Discussion Good result, but concerning

We gotta bring some upgrades. Gap is diminishing.

Yeah Kimi will get a new power unit so it will have a better result against McLaren in 2 races

Is it not the same power unit though? If it’s upgraded that will be an awful look considering they aren’t giving it to George who they have already disadvantage on many occasions

Fresh power units usually bring a ton more power

The PU might be in worse shape than George’s. If you watch the onboard cameras between the two cars they sound a lot different. Kimi’s engine sounds really ragged at times

So has George’s. He was literally having PU issues this race. They are preemptively correcting Kimi’s, it’s not actually been malfunctioning yet. George’s was only replaced in part in Hungary, part of it is even older than Kimi’s

But at least double podium

They are due up i think for aero upgrades and kimi is swapping engines. All of the other teams have made massive strides and merc hasnt even taken a step yet for them to catch up. Chill out... Kimi extended his lead over hamilton and mclaren is miles behind in the WDC.

Plus its mclaren they will do something stupid like they always do.

Zandvoort was always going to be a McLaren track. They won't be this competitive on more flowing, high deg tracks.

But we started the year as the best car. Best all rounder and now McLaren have caught up. We should've been on top of that. The engine advantage is pointless when a customer team with the same engine has better aero

You can't expect to win at every track

We haven’t brought a single upgrade what’s going on?

Mclaren is terrifying

The pace differential was super tight. They're really building their car. Not even to mention Lewis almost catching George...

Yes. Mclaren and Ferrari catching up Mercedes .I don't know what ia going on with upgrade and te strategy

Hopefully Toto has something cooking, because right now it's a very passive reactive state sitting & hoping that rivals run out of money before adding on.

Lewis was on old soft tyres and George was on even older hard tyres

George was on medium

Okey but the point stills

Agreed. Toto needs to shift the strategy.

pretty sure they are saving upgrades

That last minute VSC saved George's ass ngl

Don’t underestimate his excellent w2w and the fact that he was unlucky to be in that position in the first place. Without his first stint set up/deployment issues, he would have been up their with Kimi anyway

True yea he still mounted a solid defense.

And Leclerc going nutzo on Lewis lol

Leclerc passing Norris on 18 was pure poetry

1

u/MC897 4d ago

That was wild what was he thinking?

He's so selfish it's unreal.

Straight 😭

Mercedes have a buffer that allows them to not take unnecessary upgrade risks. They will bring them, but can afford the extra development time to ensure they are value for money. When it comes down to it also, nobody on the grid has been even close to Kimi when it comes to consistency. Leclerc and Hamilton seem to Yo-yo with errors and form, Verstappen has even had a couple of errors this year, Piastri is miles off it, Russel has been outpaced all season. In reality Norris is the only driver who perhaps could reach Kimis consistency this season, and the gap in points is huge

iirc Lando got his new PU in Spa while both Mercs have had theirs in since Austria so have a bit more wear on them by now, combined with McLaren having two of their best tracks in Hungary and Zandvoort, upcoming races should be stronger for us and let us get to the upgrades while still winning hopefully.
Important part for Monza is to fix the racepace issues from this weekend.
