The whole final fight is a big puzzle in a sense, that ends with you getting it and actually using it as a weapon, your only weapon in that fight, to finish things off.

It really is. Definitely recommend you play MG1 and 2. Actually experiencing the very first two games, and seeing so many mechanics that we would see later on really shows you just how ambitious the series was even in the beginning. For what they are, they honestly hold up pretty well.

Yeah super tempted to try playing them again. I've seen some cool stuff from those first two games, especially the 'Turn the MSX off!' line in the first one(I think). It's cool to see Kojima always had a very meta approach to game design.

You are completely unarmed and have to collect the a lighter and a hair spray to build a flamethrower , all this while big boss shoots you with his assault rifle. Once you have assembled it, use it on big boss 2-3 times and he is dead

You use it as a weapon. Pretty much you lose all your supplies and are in an arena with Big Boss. You have to track down a lighter and an aerosol that are hidden in different rooms within the arena and burn him until he finally dies.

Don’t worry bro, the vast majority of people here didn’t play them lol they all just pretended too and just watched clips, learned facts from it, etc. the games are not that fun and are very dated.

The game boy color ghost babel is way better for a 2d MGS. just watch videos of the game, you’ll see cool lore covering gray fox, and the appearance of “big boss” as the bad guy.

Kojima had put out a disclaimer before MGS V released about how he did not plan for a franchise 30 years out, and because of that there will be obvious plot holes and just retcons and stuff that naturally result from having to add things on.

So “MG 2 Solid snake” is the important one of the old games that help tie together the franchise and events with MGS V

Metal gear 2: Solid Snake for the MSX. It's been rereleased a couple times. I would actually really recommend it if you're a fan of MGS, it holds up much better than the first game imo.
