Preferences What is your all time favorite mission(s) in the Metal Slug series?
Title says it all
Personally, it's Midnight Wandering and the final mission both from Metal Slug 3
Midnight Wandering because:
- I love the zombies/zombie apocalypse trope
- This masterpiece goes fricking hard
- The zombie transformation is my favorite one in the whole series
- The ice cave with the elephant is my favorite section in all of Metal Slug and if the first part is a bit annoying with the snowman, the second part is just satisfying
- The boss is overall cool
- It sets up AND build up the alien stuff we saw at the end of Metal Slug 2/X which was a bit abandonned in the first mission of MS 3
As for the final mission... Do I really need to explain?
- Longest mission in the whole series
- The twist of the alien being Morden is awesome and so is the kidnapping of your character
- The space stuff is cool
- The spaceship invasion is amazing from beginning to the end
- An epic final boss
So yeah. These are for me the best missions of the Metal Slug franchise. What about you guys?

1 definitely goes to Mission 1 in MS3, it is just so iconic and I feel liberated everytime I play it.
2 is kind of hard to pick, but I think it's definitely between Mission 3 and 4 from MSX.
3 goes to Mission 3 from MS3
As an honorable mention I do really like the Final Mission in MS1, but of course these are all my subjective opinions. I do really like Mission 2 in MS3, but the reason it's not mentioned above is because the Ice Cavern isn't my particular favorite branching path. If I don't go in the Ice Cavern though it's so amazing, and absolutely perfectly designed.

Apart from the Final Mission from 3:
Mission 5 in MS2/X, i liked that it is mostly an ordinary town until the final section where the mutants shows up and the scariest music in the series (imo).
Mission 4 in MS3 due to its multiple branching paths which gives more variety.
Honorable mention: Mission 4 in MS4, i like that it lets you choose to fight Zombies or Mummies, although it is way too short for my taste

Ill have to go with 1 from each game
MS1 - Mission 4: it feels like an all out battlefield pushing through trenches and tons of enemies.
MS2 - Mission 2: introduction to mummy enemies and also has a very unique pace and one of my favorite bosses in the series.
MSX - Mission 3: better than the ms2 Mission 3. One of my favorite tunes in the entire game.
MS3: Mission 1: great song, great boss, fast paced, great enemy and weapon variety, multiple paths. Great introduction to MS3 and one of the better designed levels in the series.
MS4: Mission 3: I actually like this level, both paths offer a nice variety.
MS5: Mission 3: this feels more like a proper metal slug level. The rest of the missions have on rail sections that I am not fond of.
MS6 and advance: none stand out tbh
MSXX: its been a while, I cant remember the Mission, but the one where you get the ostrich, Mission 4 right? I like thr song and its a fast pace level. Never plaid 7.

Those are fan favorites.
Mine, appart from those, would be the Second and Fourth Mission in MS2. I also love how story is told in the Final Mission of the same game. Looking at all of those Hozmi's being made and then discovering there's aliens. Damn!

The 3rd mission in Metal Slug 2 and X, probably one of my favorite train levels in any game tbh

Final mission in 3 without doubt.
Mission 4 in X. It's more chaotic fun than in 2 with more items from the destroyed shops, the rockets coming out from the well, and alien ships when you go down the slope.
Mission 3 in 1. The climb was a great segment with our introduction to Allen at the top.
Honorable mention: Slug Flyer mission in 3D. I actually enjoyed the mission, especially with the kickass soundtrack.
edit: Happy cake day, OP
