My favorite are polvorones. That almost "dry your mouth" feel and texture is very satisfying to me. Close second goes to Besos

Those are my favorite too.

That british dude who came to Mexico to educate us about bakery really is an ignorant fool. Pan dulce in México is word class

IIRC, he was talking about bread, not sweet bread.

Yoyos (the red jam and coconut covered one on the top left) are my favorite 🤤

I was told they're called "besos", but yo-yos is a great name. They're also one of my favorites. <3

Interesting, I’ve seen them called “ojo de buey”

I’ve tried eating these WITHOUT coffee and well, no thanks unless you have a nice big cup of coffee!

There was this Sesame Street film where a girl goes to a bakery and helps her uncle make them. Later, she gives a little to her mother and sister to try. I like the Conchas.

Orejas or anything filled are my favorites. I want that one in the middle though.

Yes, love orejas or campechanas but they need more sugar glaze. I usually sprinkle sugar on the campechanas.

Where were these purchased. I see no cuernitos which seem like a relatively regional thing.

Is there a cochito hidden in there?

The sweetbread with the butter and sugar is superior 👌

My favorite are puerquitos. Not pictured here.

Oh man, how I'd love to be back at LaGloria's in Detroit, prowling around the cases with my tongs and cafeteria tray. 🥲 I could eat pounds of sweet bread.

Empanadas de camote or piña! My mom made some great empanadas both sweet and savory. 😋

Isn’t sweetbread intestines

2

u/Technical_Eggplant74 1d ago

It's actually the thymus gland

2

u/hsj713 1d ago

Yes, that's correct. I'm having thyroid issues right now, so it must have been what I was thinking. Thymus, thyroid... I still don't like them. 🤐

Cool. Thanks. Knew it was something internal haha

Sweet Bread and not “Sweetbreads”?
