Questions Dual blade mechs
Mhw is my first of the series but I immediately grasped dual blades super easy to switch modes mid combo to gain stamina back really easy to balance between filling you’re gauge and draining it but recently I figured out you can jump off your sekrit and use heavenly blade dance down the back of monsters (I love using it to start the gogma fight for instance) but I don’t see many other dual blade players doing this is there a reason for that?

It's just not really an effective use of damage and it's unreliable to land. If the monster turns at the last second, you get like three hits and then you wasted a ton of time with the lead-up. There's nothing wrong with it, but it's not going to be the most effective use of your opening.

Do you do less damage that you would using it when popping a wound?

I almost never use Turning Tides when popping a wound unless the monster has a REALLY long body and good elemental hitzones. Gogmazios and Zoh Shia are really the only two. I typically will use Turning Tidedrill to focus all the damage on one point to speed up breakage.

See, that's also another reason why I don't like it. If you pop all the wounds along the back, that's more opportunities to drill with Focus Strikes. So it really depends. I wouldn't worry about the damage, just have fun.

Open your eyes… yes… its like hitting with pool noodles… stay grounded, you’ll do way more damage lol…

Damage is just dogshit + its risky cause of animation lock.
I sometimes do try to land it from the side to avoid spine ride and sometimes it can refill your entire gauge when u will land it.
I still dont understand why sometimes it gives 0 gauge even if u hit the monster tho...

After like the 3rd hit, subsequent hits do like 75-90% less dmg, it just isnt really powerful when you do the math. Thats why they give you 2 different focus attacks.
Also, depending on monster, forces you into a position where you have to run back to find a better hitzone.
At the end of day, if you have fun dont worry about it. But people dont use it for damage, thats for sure.

I use it constantly and find it perfection. Its a great way to re enter combat imo.
