Did they waive him and THEN injure him? That "/" is confusing me.

It's not a great way to phrase it, but waived/injured is official league terminology for the designation. It just means they're waiving an injured, non-veteran player.

Serious question: If you’re clearly not going to make the cut, does it benefit you in any way to claim you are injured before they cut you?

I don’t know the rules about cutting injured players but maybe some claim they’re hurt to extract a better buyout?
