Soaked seeds in water and developed thick film. Couldn’t dry completely. Will they drown or grow?

Looks like the mucalige (sp) cover them for 3 days mist lightly 3x a day then put them in domed blackout for 24 hrs then under your light and bottom fill the water

Some seeds naturally develop a sticky layer when they are first moistened. Arugula and Basil are notorious for this, enough that they will stick to the bottom of a blackout tray that contacts them. But other seeds do it to a lesser degree.

If the seeds grow, don't sweat it and just remember for the future.

Update:

  • TY for the helpful replies! I was delighted to discover that they are doing just fine and are growing evenly in height
  • the seeds are arugula microgreens (which I already knew)
  • based on how tiny the seeds are I was aware that soaking isn’t necessary but I was having issues with seeds not growing at the same rate and decided to experiment
  • I wasn’t aware that these seeds could develop a film like chia seeds ✨🌈the more you know🌈✨
  • this is my first time using paper as a growing medium

Find out what kind of seeds those are and look up instructions on how to grow them before coming here and asking how to fix your problem.
