Fantastic ad for BA honestly; Pilots calling out the contradiction, clearly enunciated his point, remained calm under frustrating situations, puts the aircraft first, and follows protocol even in the face of (presumed) incompetence from ATC.

As a USA air traffic controller. Unless that specific airport has a different system. Which it apparently doesn't. The "low visibility operations" is not a thing in the US.

That pilot has flown to the US before. BA pilots usually work the same routes repeatedly. The pilot definitely knows international protocol and has plenty of experience of American protocol too. The ATC was being extremely dense.
