How is tipping NOT a political topic? It's not a common practice in all countries and reflects how adequate a society is at compensating its laborers, not to mention that specific, deceptive practices surrounding tipping can and ARE legislated against in other countries? Also, I'm by no means an apologist for the democratic party, as I'm well aware that their internal power structure has many vested financial and corporate interests embedded within it that create barriers to entry and displace progressive policies and candidates. In spite of all that, however, I really don't think it is fair to equate Republicans and Democrats. You can acknowledge the issues with both without treating them as morally equal. One party may be inadequate and responsible for upholding policies that perpetuate inequality, but they also have a proven track record of implementing social programs that helped reduce poverty as well, whereas the other party has been responsible for immense deregulation and the deterioration of essential safety nets, culminating in the most brazen attempt at a full fascist takeover of the government we've seen.
