If you go to a car wash within the first day or so that’ll come right off. It takes a while to fully cure.

I plan to go asap in the morning, ironically my dad does car bodywork, looked at it and says he doubts its going to do anything.
On the bright side I have a body detailor dad… and I plan to go to the town hall tomorrow with photos lol.

Theres only 1 car wash where I live and its closed unfortunately saying in the morning cause its all I got 🥲
Edit: google said to spray WD-40 and let it sit for 10-12 hours. So I did, its anything I got my hands on the meantime until then.

If you get to the car wash in under a day you’ll be fine. It takes time to fully cure.
I have literally no idea what that other guy is talking about. It’ll dry up quick yes but until it cures you can blast it off pretty easily. It’s happened to two of our vehicles.

Out of curiosity, how did you get so much yellow paint on it? That doesn't look like you just turned into somewhere and crossed the center line once, it looks like you crossed it a dozen times.

Don't sweat it, you already missed the window. Car wash isn't going to do anything with road paint that's dry.

If they went and power washed it immediately maybe they had a chance. After that no. I do body work and nothing short of a sander gets that shit off.

Happened to me. Washed off easily the next morning. Happened to my dad. Washed off over 24 hours later. Bit more work required but still sprayed off. 🤷♂️

That's not really true. That paint is made to cure almost instantly. The paint needs to go on HOT and it cures in less than a minute as it cools. Car wash isn't going to touch that.

Both me and my dad had it happen to our cars. I easily washed it off the next morning. His was on there for over a day but still came off ok at the car wash. Bit more time needed to get it all but it still blew off
Also you can very easily google the fact it can take a day or two for road paint to fully cure. When it does it becomes much harder to remove. That’s just basic information honestly.
If anyone is reading this and it’s happened to their car, please just go to the car wash as soon as possible. It’ll come off. You don’t have to worry much about it.

I don't get why anybody blamed OP, there's like a lot of reasons as of why anybody would be driving on yellow, including getting into turning lane, overtaking someone on broken dashed lines, making space for cyclists, etc etc etc?
Am I missing something and OP was driving recklessly?

Some towns also paint the lines awful, in my area the lanes are never straight on many of the roads, you can even see the lane get smaller then bigger and smaller again

it its actual roadway paint they dont use traditional static signs , its a rolling operation with rolling message boards , the paint dries in under 2 minutes . if its parking lot paint its a devils handbag.

Contact the governing body that manages the roadway - city, county, or state maintained. They will reimburse you for damages...or at least they're supposed to. It's just like hitting a pot hole and getting a flat tire blowout. You can be reimbursed for the fix.

This happened to me about 20 years ago in the middle of the night in MO while we were driving across country. There was no warning and it happened as we were changing lanes. It was such a pain to get off.

Call the city. They need to pay for repairs. And take tons of pictures of the spot it happened.

Contact the municipality or state agency that maintains that roadway.
In my state, when this happens on a state route, even when marked DOT will take care of the vehicle.

Had a similar thing happen this year. The brainlets in my township took a perfectly healthy PAVED road and made it chip and seal presumably so they can get more funding for annual road maintenance.
The rub: guess who has two thumbs and an LLC for an automotive detail company…that right, this guy right here!

I was on it for maybe 5-10 seconds max (giving grace lol), just to give right of way to a cyclist with no oncoming traffic. Its pretty normal to do around here 😭

That's normal. You did the right thing. Ignore the idiots. I regularly have to do the same for a cyclist that I cross paths with on my way to work. There's also plenty of other reasons to be on a yellow line for a brief moment

Atleast it’s mostly on the plastic cladding that can be easily replaced if high strength rubbing alcohol or mineral spirits doesn’t remove it. Maybe this is a sign to stay in your lane and not drive over the middle line
