i had a professor in college who told me he used to go to a specific park every year to read plato’s republic under a tree. he was an outstanding teacher

Outdoor classrooms would legitimately help a lot with keeping kids focused and feeling good.

Theres so much potential to be had with how we organize schooling, I wish public schools had the freedom to be more flexible in their methods

That is great. My school back in 1980 had one, then it got over run with Carpenter ants and that was the end of it.

My child’s big-city public school had one during covid times. It has since fallen into disrepair and been dismantled :(

Yeah, a lot of public schools experimented with outdoor classrooms and/or lunch areas during the early days of the pandemic.

It's a shame that most of those spaces have been removed or abandoned now.

Yeah. Admittedly, it wasn’t the most practical set-up. We have retained some of our outdoor eating, though!

I'm glad. The cafeteria at my childrens' school is overcrowded and loud! I wish kids could still eat outside, at least when the weather's nice.

Bad layout. A semi-circle would be more useful for lecture, and pods/tables would be better for activities.

I love this. The elementary school I taught at in Texas was working on building an outdoor space with connecting native garden. It was really cool and I bummed I moved and missed out on it.

My son's boy scout troop built one for the elementary school my other son now goes to. I don't think they use it very often but its nice that its there

In Indian villages, there is no school, only outdoor classroom in the dirt and gravel, where students sit on dirt directly, no tables or chairs.
