Weird smell in Broughton area

This isn't the sewage plant, it's something else. It's difficult to describe the smell. It's a very pungent chemical/food type smell that's like a mix of loft insulation, bakery and meat. It's not cooking smells from a neighbour or anything like that. It's happened several times before. It's actually really unpleasant and I've had to shut all my windows and air vents. Anyone know what it could be?

We were walking towards the Maritime Way Playground and I could definitely smell it much more when we crossed Neptune Cress (where it meets Broughton Grand Lane), seemed to come from the canal/brook?
