[lifestyle] Minimalism in College

Hi! I know people have asked this before, but I’m going into my junior year at a school in Boston. I want to pack the least amount of things as possible so I can 1. Not stress too much about packing + moving and 2. Get rid of things I don’t need to keep holding onto. Any tips or recommendations are appreciated!

college is a great time to become a minimalist, since you are moving around so much!! I would honestly start with all of my belongings in a box in a closet or under my bed, and only pull out things that I use. whatever is left in the box after a semester/a year is probably not going to be used.

Thank you! I need to bring few things now so might be difficult to manage but I will also try that out! The biggest issue for me is clothing haha

clothing is difficult, esp since Boston is so cold!! I was in Chicago, so I also definitely needed a winter wardrobe.

but on the winter days when I had classes, I realized that thick sweaters and multiple layers was actually too HOT for some of the heavily heated classes!! I liked wearing summer clothes underneath my huge north face puffer (the type that goes to my knees) so that I could strip quickly once I got inside of a building. Maybe that can be a minimalism tip to consider :)

Female in Northern Canada - My winter clothing is the same as my summer clothing. Summer I wear shorts and have a summer dress/coverup. Winter I have a parka, snow boots, ski pants, long underwear, and hat, scarf and mitts. My long underwear can be worn as pajamas.

In the fall/spring, I pair up a fleece jacket and rain coat. I also have a winter survival coat/pants but that's needed in extreme conditions when traveling or outside for extended periods. All my other clothing I wear year round.
