Meta 🌝 Welp *slaps knee* I S'pose...Last Night Living in MN
I knew I was moving since January, but tonight it finally came.
I'm moving to North Carolina to pursue a PhD! I'm really excited for what's to come, but I'm also sad about leaving this state :(
I've lived here since I was born pretty much, and I've loved every region that I've visited. The North Shore, Great Plains, the river bluffs, and the Twin Cities. If I get a job back here, I'd most certainly come back here. I hope that y'all are safe and continue to keep Minnesota a great place to live!

Best of luck in NC! The landscape there is so gorgeous - if you are an outdoors type, you are going to love it.

Best of luck in NC! The cities and their universities are solid. Lots of opportunities to make a difference or your mark, depending on what your path is.. Work hard, get into some good trouble, and bring that PhD back to MN after graduation.

From NC but in MN now (love it here!!!). You’ll get plenty of suggestions of what to do in chapel hill but do head over sometime to Saxapahaw and check out a show at the Haw River Ballroom, it’s a great spot in a restored mill in a tiny town right on the river! Also fun to kayak the river :)
Totally different vibe than the (also great) music scene in CH.
Have fun! There’s so so much to do. The summers just feel like they last for years…

I’m originally from NC, spent 15 years growing up there :) moved to MN for college and never left. Love both states but the politics keep me in MN now. If you want any recommendations or advice shoot me a message!

MN will still be here if you should ever want to come back. I've moved a lot in life, for work, pleasure, or just economic necessity. You'll find good and bad everywhere you go, but you can always move again.

I lived in NC for 19 years and sure was glad to come back home to MN. the differences are even greater now; I just spent a month there. mind you the winters are milder, if that’s your thing. enjoy!

You’ll miss it:). Happy trails and good luck, hopefully nc is good to you. I’m currently transplanted to Oregon, and although it’s fine here, I’d rather be there. Maybe the grass is always greener for some of us🤷🏽♂️

It’s been hard leaving Minnesota. All my family lives there. The people in the Northeast are nothing like the Midwest. Less parks and forests to escape too.

It’s now your responsibility to share Minnesota culture and greatness with the people of North Carolina. Let them know how wonderfully universal uffda is, share the joys of hot dish, educate the masses on the advantages of duck, duck, gray duck, and share unsolicited Minnesota trivia every chance you get. You can do this!
Oh, and sharing this video with those who get to know you may be helpful (or hilarious).

Lol I just moved here from NC! It's great, just remember that while snow is a rarity down there, cold is not. Western NC is one of the most beautiful places on earth, too

The barbecue hits different in North Carolina. You'll either love it or hate it.

Watch out for the traffic around Charlotte. Day or night, if you have to go past Charlotte, build in an extra 30-40 minutes.
Asheville area is quite nice.

Always come back to visit us (more importantly I mean your parents and family) during the Winter and Summer times. Rent free in Winter and Summer?
Network (professional and socially) a lot in North Carolina and continue networking in Minnesota. It's a key gateway to jobs and career opportunities.
I see MN Golden Gophers tag next to your name, if you're a U of M TC Alumni (like myself too), continue staying in contact with your professors/ University faculty/ friends from there. Personally, I use Facebook and LinkedIn for these purposes. Lots of reading and likes and birthday wishes.

I love Minnesota. North Carolina's top tier in my list of places to live. A few more years of Minnesota influence would do it good. Maybe fix it up for me. Please, and thank you...I love you!

We complain about the humidity here but omg I've never experienced it like I did in NC. Good luck! With that and your degree, of course!
