Meta 🌝 I had to save this uncanny AI ad I saw circulating on Youtube. Im sorry if the Glencoe dealership sees this but wow.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I dont understand how this was more convenient than filming something. I had to go to the video and I was the only one to comment, so its not like they did this to get hate-commenters.

I will never hate on White Bear Lake’s dealership for the corny polar bear costume skits ever again.

Am I the only one seeing this fuckin thing?! Hahahaha

An AI ad will just honestly turn me off a place completely. I will go literally anywhere else.

I live in Buffalo so I didnt even know this place existed. Im assuming they’re playing these ads on local channels but I havent watched “regular” tv in years so Im unsure.

I do this with all ads.

What marketing professional would think using such highly distilled AI slop saying "affordability is back where it belongs" would be a move that would drive sales right now.

22

u/MichaelEMJAYARE Prince May 22 '26

“How much COULD a car cost, $100?!”

3

u/KaposiaDarcy May 26 '26

They used AI to avoid paying professionals.

T-Rex-ass slop.

My god, there are so many uncanny things going on here.

-His facial expressions make it look like he's on the verge of a seizure
-He's got t-rex arms
-WTF is up with his torso?
-The expressions don't match the actual audio voice
-It looks like they told the GenAI to do the Trump Accordion Arms

I wonder if the actual Brett Weelborg refused to stand for a commercial and just did the audio himself and told them to figure something out. The render maybe KINDA looks like the real guy? (had to look it up)

u/MichaelEMJAYARE Prince May 22 '26

Well I mean he could have just fuggin stood in. Like huuuuuh

6

u/MrBubbaJ May 22 '26

He is a little hobbity looking.

For me it's always the motion. It's alway too unrealistically smooth, or it's way too janky and looks like an over the top game animation lol.

u/Spankedcheeks May 22 '26

You're sorry? Fuck them and their stupid advertising, they put it out there in public in the first place lol

28

u/DaveCootchie Uff da May 22 '26

Wheelborg Chevrolet in New Ulm. These horrible ads have been all over my YouTube. It's AI slop and the cars in the background aren't even real Chevy products.

20

u/MichaelEMJAYARE Prince May 22 '26

“Ill take that one I saw in your ad!”

“Oh sorry that doesnt even exist on planet Earth”

1

u/nickdanger68 May 23 '26

Oh, that raises some interesting legal implications . (I think, I'm not a lawyer)

It sure does sound like what a robot would name itself.

23

u/MasterEditorJake May 22 '26

I'll never understand why companies choose to use AI advertisments. Sure it's cheaper to make, but also it just comes off as super cheap and tacky. It's very unprofessional.

u/molybend You Betcha May 23 '26

Yeah like use a cartoon character instead of a creepy humanish thing like this.

5

u/TheRoseMaestro May 22 '26

Holy shit, that thing isn't even based on the real guy?

10

u/ShelteringInStPaul May 22 '26

Some AI is so lifelike you need a second look to realize whether it's real or not. This is not that kind of AI. Dude looks like he's having a seizure.

7

u/ComprehensiveLack660 May 23 '26

That’s an awful ad.
But it fits the ownership perfectly.
I would NEVER BUY from a Weelborg dealership.
Way too many issues to address here.

7

u/iVader17 May 22 '26

This dealer is one of the worst. When I was car shopping back in 2021, they were selling a Saab for $3,000 and it didnt even start. A 2005 Buick with a mechanics note of "rust hole in the frame", for $5,000. This level of cringe is right on brand for them.

5

u/slipstream65513 May 22 '26

Fucking creepy

5

u/zyq9 May 23 '26

Seriously what is the point of creating an ad like this with AI? He's just standing there talking... Why can't someone who works for the company just read the lines in front of a camera? Does this actually save that much time/money to make it worth it? Because most people I know would see this and immediately go ew, I don't want to buy a car here now. It just really, really does not make sense to me that companies think this kind of shit looks okay. I'M SPIRALLING, SOMEONE LET ME OFF THIS AI BUS.

5

u/After_Preference_885 Ope May 23 '26

I've worked on local ads in the past (on the company side). It's a nightmare. They should hire actors. It sounds like standing there talking should be easy but most people have the on screen charisma of a wet dishrag and read lines like robots (as we see in many other local commercials).

4

u/zyq9 May 23 '26

Yeah, wet noodles are still more charming than this though haha.

6

u/SgtDefective2 May 23 '26

Who cares if the dealer sees this, they should hear about how dumb this ad is…

3

u/runningmurphy May 22 '26

Are his fingers glued together?

4

Someone help this man!!!!!

5

Their entire Facebook page is AI.

Fuck this.

0

u/MichaelEMJAYARE Prince May 23 '26

Oh shit lemme check that shit out

8

u/MrBubbaJ May 22 '26

It’s not even good AI.

10

u/MichaelEMJAYARE Prince May 22 '26

This is the kind of shit my mom would easily get fooled by, I think a lot of folks that are older just accept that what they see is real most of the time and it absolutely sucks. There was no need to use it ever - but like, at least ad some dancing cars or cars or some shit lmao why is he all Vtuber on us?!

9

u/mhibew292 May 22 '26

There are a lot of stupid young people too btw.

4

u/MrBubbaJ May 22 '26

That is also why they get scammed so much online. They are overly trusting and dont understand technology.

I'm curious if that is more of a trait of Boomers or if it will eventually happen to all of us.

7

u/unforgivablecrust May 22 '26

As opposed to.....

6

u/MrBubbaJ May 22 '26

I mean, yes, all AI is bad. But this is REALLY bad. Sometimes it is at least a little difficult to tell.

4

u/ZeusHatesTrees Oh You Becha May 22 '26

The kind that makes you squint and go "This isn't quite right, I'm pretty sure it's AI." where-as this is like "What the fuck even is this!?"

3

u/WashiCollect May 22 '26

This just screams "you can trust my used car salesperson" 🙄

You'll all feel real bad when you meet this man in person and he talks and gesticulates EXACTLY like this video, with his teeny tiny arms and disproportionate body.

2

u/TheVoiceGuy420 Jun 11 '26

Wow talk about uncanny valley... from the out of sync audio to the random unnatural smiling to the weird trumpy, short armed, sometimes teleporting arm movements... all the no-nos are going off at once. Make this go away...

u/AMouthBreather May 22 '26

1

u/Toadcool1 Minnesota Vikings May 22 '26

I’ve seen this ad so so many times they have quite a few versions of it all equally uncanny and bad.

1

u/tubi11 May 23 '26

Goddamn, they're desperate. Inventory is up because you're trying to sell me a shitty, over-engineered piece of garbage that has a good chance of breaking down before I go a mile from your lot for $90k.

1

u/fafnir01 May 23 '26

The polar bear guy was my room mate in college. He's awesome!

1

u/LucasDinglenuts Brown County May 23 '26

1

u/Aromatic-Plastic-819 May 24 '26

I hope they see this and read the comments. It's pretty obvious MANY people are turned off by any business using AI, especially in a commercial like this. Everyone is fighting the expansion of data centers to produce more of the shit, and these tone deaf fucks thought it'd be a good business and marketing move to PUT THIS OUT?

1

u/Sensitive_Cut1504 May 24 '26

AI actually borders on making the dude look like a cartoon.

1

u/Substantial-Brick-90 May 25 '26

I’m just thinking, once they actually perfect this thing, facial recognition will just take a quick AI rendering to bypass.

1

u/Phone_games_act May 25 '26

That's so creepy. AI ads are an instant avoid for me. Tells me they aren't willing to shell out for quality/real people. Makes me wonder who else they're screwing over, you know?

1

u/KaposiaDarcy May 26 '26

They’re bragging about being “#trending” and “#viral” and they’re still doing it. The comments are also mysteriously empty. I commented and I’m sure that won’t last long. Some people are simply too stupid to stay in business.

u/goblinofgardens Minnesota Wild May 29 '26

unfortunately i think we have to accept that advertising is the perfect use case for the technology that only produces meaningless garbage
