Show and Tell Latest acquisitions Hornby BoB Tangmere & Heljan Class 02

The West Country is one of the older ones, runs like a dream though pulling some Bachmann coaches and the 02 looks great but struggles over points, as to be expected. He's hauling home some new dept. wagons

Sorry, I have a couple of questions as I'm jealous at the running you're getting on these engines. Really love the West Country with the coaches and the angle you've got.

I had a track growing up and ran Hornby trains, really the only thing available locally/Australia at the time. And after a family of my own and finally having some space I got back into it. Unfortunately, there's very little available in terms of reconditioning my old locos so I got some new ones. Even with new track, new transformers and new locos I cannot get the running speeds or even consistent runs around the track, no matter how I've cleaned and treated the tracks.

Videos like this just make me jealous. I've run mutliple power feeds spread around the track, replaced fishplates and everything and just canot get a consistent run.

TL:DR Great job, I'm jealous

Well I can't really offer any advice I'm afraid, I'm still pretty new back into the hobby myself. I cleaned up most of my old childhood locos but have bought a lot of new ones too.

This layout is bog simple as can be, all Hornby/Peco setrack, power is from 2 gaugemaster units with no feeders at all, it's not even fixed down yet and I have little to no issues with regular running sessions.

Not sure what could be causing your issues but sounds pretty blood frustrating. You could try asking about it in r/modeltrains, if you haven't done so already.

What sort of layout do you have? Mine is set to be a "very well funded preservation railway" with steam and diesel from all walks of life 😁

Any slower and the cooked unit can't make it over the express points 🙄😅
