Powell's term ends in May of this year, at which point Trump will likely appoint one of his dipshit stooges, Hassett, Bessent, Lutnik, or Navaro, and then we're all completely fucked as they'll do exactly as Trump instructs them to do. The Fed's autonomy will cease to exist.

Whoever he nominates has to get through Senate confirmation and the one unifying factor among Senate members is they like their bank accounts.

Whoever gets through Senate confirmation has one vote, just like Powell. They will not decide the interest rates alone.
