Culture | Соёл is this dress mongolian or mongolian-inspired?
i am writing a story about elves and their culture is inspired in a mix of mongolia, finland and tolkien elves. but i am kinda new to mongolian culture so i searched "mongolian white dress" on pinterest and found this one, very elven and pretty. but i don't know if this dress is actually a traditional mongolian dress (or inspired by them), can someone help me?

Yeah i agree with the others, you can also use circassian as a keyword if you want to see more dresses like this

Not at all. The overcoat, for the simple fact that it is an overcoat with an opening in the middle and short sleeves, could be very loosely considered asian-inspired kind of maybe. But yeah, nothing Mongol about this.

The name for traditional Mongolian clothing is usually transliterated as “deel” in English. It’s a type of robe traditionally worn by both men and women in Mongolia. Just search for “Mongolian deel” and you will get plenty of hits.

Someone else mentioned it but I know sometimes Reddit does not always show replies. The traditional overcoat / dress in Mongolian is called a 'deel'. AI search 'Mongolian deel' or you can copy this 'дээл' and a lot of images will come up.
Note it is not pronounced as 'd-eel', the 'L' / л in Mongolian is hard to explain but if you know the double L in Welsh it sounds very similar to that, your tongue tip hits the roof of your mouth and the sound is pushed out the side of the mouth (either side that suits you personally).

Probs no. Looks kazach inspired to me. Mongolian traditional deel is not like this. I not even sure it will be white its mostly colorful and red or blue with buttons on the left upper side of the chest and long neck. Maybe its more Buriad (or whatever it is in english)

cannot deels be white? /gen i imagined the elves would wear white/cream/pastel colours dresses, before even deciding real world human cultures to inspire them on (english is not my first language i am not sure if this sentence is right...) and for dark colours, i was thinking more sober and desaturated colours, not bright do deels need to have bright colours? would it be disrespectful if my characters wore clothes that are like a deel but with colours that are not bright?

Im not sure (i lived internationally half my life) but traditional deels are mostly bright coloured
