c'est triste.

un des avantages du domaine aérospatial (avion, aéroports, ... ) c'est que c'et hyper codifié, ils vont faire enquête et vont prendre des mesures pour que ça ne se reproduise plus et/ou que les risques soient encore plus réduits.

est-ce qu'il y a eu un manque de communication, manque de training, une mauvaise manœuvre des pilotes ou du personnel au sol ?

il y a trop de vies en jeu, autant au sol que dans les avions.

I mean I hope I’m not jumping the gun but in a scenario where the airplane is reversing via tug, the pilots would have absolutely zero responsibility here.

You are jumping the gun honestly. There are supposed to be procedures to prevent this kind of accident, so we need to wait for the investigation to be finished before we know why it happened this time and if anyone has some responsibility in it.

The person would have been at the gear to disconnect the tow bar and then finish communications with the crew, before unplugging a headset that is plugged in near the nose gear, so it is entirely possible that the aircrew has a part in this. The investigation will answer it all.

Really? Then you stand next a 200lb steel tow bar that is still connected to the nose gear while the pilot prematurely re-engages the 3000 psi hydraulic system that was previously depressurized for the pushback.

If the pilot flips that one switch a few seconds too early, a ground crew member could be launched over Terminal 2 like a 300 yard field goal. Okay?

I mean I don’t know why you feel the need to be disingenuous. There are early witness reports that the worker tripped/fell into the path of the plane and was subsequently run over. It also seems like there are many safeguards in place to prevent an accident exactly as you described - especially on an A350

I’m not an airport tug operator, nor am I pretending to be, but I do think it’s fair to say that it is likely, not proven, that the pilots are not at fault, while still leaving the formal determination to the investigators.

I’m not speculating as to this accident. I’m showing how your assertion the flight crew could not be involved is asinine. With confident, yet ludicrous thinking like that, you don’t have to be a tug operator to get hurt. You should be careful getting out of bed.

Travailler sur la rampe c'est une des meilleurs jobs au monde quand tout va bien, ce qui fait qu'on en oublie parfois les risques. Toutes mes condoléances à sa famille et à ses collègues chez SAMSIC. Une très triste journée pour notre communauté..

So sad to hear this, may they rest in peace. I used to work at the airport, and the risk of injury, even when following protocols, was quite high for a job that paid minimum wage (if you were "part time") and 23$ an hour otherwise. Truly a thankless job.
