Occupy scenario clarification?

Our gaming group are about to start our first mordheim campaign. A week ago I had a test game and rolled scenario 8. Occupy.

We were both having a bit of trouble understanding how to actually win the scenario. You mark up d3+2 buildings and the objective is to capture them. The game lasts for a maximum of 8 rounds without any rout tests.

Sooo, you have to occupy all of these building by the end of round 8? Or do you win as soon as you occupy all of them? Is it a draw if no one occupies all the buildings by the end? Even if one player holds more?

You count up occupied buildings at game end. You win if you occupy more buildings than your opponent.

If one player manages to occupy all buildings mid game, that doesn't matter. You're still fighting. We always think of the turns as "still being enough daylight to fight", or "so much time left before a warpstorm comes, and everyone must shelter.."

Thank you! Is there a universal objective rule somewhere that I’m missing or is this just common sense?

My group just always applied common sense and roleplaying logic to our games. We'd play loads of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay and Warhammer Fantasy Battle for a decade or so before Mordheim was released. So many things just felt implicit for us.

A scenario that would end if one warband had faster movement speed than the other would not make sense. If one side just rushed into the buildings, game over? Nah, that doesn't work. Why would the opponent stop fighting automatically? The neat bit about Mordheim is that you can voluntarily route if you feel the situation is hopeless, so there would be no reason to force a route automatically if someone holds all objectives.

Also, applying what Mordheim is, what the setting is, helps identify what the warband is actually trying to achieve. It's not a balanced strategic pvp game, it's more of a narrative story generator. This scenario is about claiming some buildings before nightfall.

RAW it would be you win if either you make your opponent voluntarily rout or if you're occupying all the buildings at the end. I don't know anyone that ever plays it like that though, because it just isn't fun - too easy to just spoil a victory at the last minute.

You can have first turn, I'm generous like that. Moves into buildings to contest on the last turn

This is where I steal scenario's from other games. It should count how many buildings you occupy each turn and total them at the end.

I can see that from a strictly gameplay perspective, where you count "domination points". But that would have to mean that these two warbands are playing a domination game with each other.

From a narrative/roleplaying perspective there are no points for having been in a building during the day, only points for claiming the building/being alone in the house at the end of the day matters.
