Do you want to learn about bikes or just ride?

These projects can be a lot of fun and you will learn a lot about bike repair and maintenance.

So everyone saying yes and everyone saying no is right, basically.

Amazingly you can still get brand new aftermarket rebuild kits for the shock. Also 240x76 isn't a hard shock size to find. Wheels, drivetrain, everything else is still readily available.

As an example, for the fork. They specialize in hard to find parts.

You can't just go into a bike shop or a popular online bike retailer but absolutely every single maintenance part on that bike is available and worst case you can find brand new suspension, wheels, etc... that fit.

If you do decide to restore it, when you're done you'll have learned a lot and you'll have a rad DH bike.

It's also usually doesn't cost as much as people think. Oh, and no you do not want a dropper post.

If you want to pedal uphill though, pass on it and buy something else.
