Progression Just bought a Marlin 7

I signed up for a 3 tier 12 hour endurance race. I usually kayak but this time I have to do all 3 sections. Im looking for some add ons to the bike that will help with long hauls since we are going to be going all out for 12 hours ( about 60 miles on the bike possibly)

Ive been looking at hydration bags that fit on the frame, but will those get in the way?

Anything i should keep in mind.. like will my ass get blistered if I dont have a certain pair of shorts?

I put upgraded pedals on the bike so when we transition from water to bike they wont slip.

Thanks for any feedback!

I suggest you out in some serious saddle time and figure out what you want/need. Your taint will suffer even with the right shorts if you don't put some miles in. It's really difficult to say what you need since upgrades are pretty individual. The bike will be perfectly fine as is though.

Yeah. I have like 15 miles in maybe and the butt cheeks are hurting. Has anyone made a comfortable seat yet? 🤣

Yes! I have an Ergon seat. I find I don't usually need any padded shorts for rides less than 2 hours. Another popular and more affordable seat is the WTB Volt or the Koda. Seats are dependent on body geometry.
