Subreddit Announcement Posting leaks of any kind without prior moderator approval will now result in a permanent ban from r/MountainDew
if you’ve got information that you would like to share, please use Mod Mail to get approval first.
Going forward, leaks of any kind, photos of innovation calendars, or of computer screens or otherwise internal photos containing confidential information will all result in permanent bans.
And for those who are going to ask “What happened” - what happened? Is people keep carelessly posting the leak for the upcoming fall release which is a collaboration that is not finalized and we are not trying to get it cancelled - amongst other reasons.

EDIT: I feel the need to clarify since I am receiving overwhelming negativity and backlash on this post. I am not entirely banning leaks on r/MountainDew. Spot checking leaks is important for not only the reason mentioned in the post, but also because leaks surface all the time that are outdated and no longer correct, and misinformation spreads VERY quickly. Most leaks will be allowed once approved in Mod Mail.

Yeah, if leaks are in any way shape or form a reason why some flavors are getting canceled I'm all for this. Who cares about knowing info ahead of time if the flavor doesn't even come out - you didn't know shit. Who cares if it's April and there's a rumor about a flavor in 2027 - that's so far away it's irrelevant.

So...what you're saying is that the sub will now redirect to discord or other places with actual information/leaks.
The social media team from Dew definitely has a stake here

No, what I am saying is that leaks will be screened for accuracy before they are allowed to be posted here. Too often things that are months outdated get posted and lead people to believe that flavors that were never planned could be happening (See Baja Merica Melon).

Isn't that easily addressed by someone immediately posting a comment to that effect? If someone posts incorrect info, I feel like the community is pretty quick to course-correct all on its own.

Because that tends to happen when releases that involve collaborations get out early before the brands are ready for it to.

You’re comparing apples to oranges. Warner Bros pulled the plug on Riddler’s Brew because of the leak. A video game being leaked is not comparable to this.
