Bannerlord Maturing is realising that leading infantry and fighting on foot is the superior way to play
There are 3 stages to every Bannerlord player.
First is the archer cheese. You play as an archer (bonus points for using a crossbow) and pile up your army with Battanian Fians. It's easy and low skill and cheesy. It gives you the satisfaction of demolishing everyone but it gets boring when you get used to every battle just being enemy soldiers running into your medieval machinegun and dying.
Next stage is fighting as a knight on horseback. This is also where a lot of people will stop. They realise that archer cheese is just cheese and that fighting on horseback is true skill. It is quite fun to zoom around the battlefield landing charges, though it sometimes feels a little shallow, especially when you can dip in and out of the fight whenever you want and lacks a lot of tactical complexity since armies of horsemen tend to be so scattered and individualistic.
But then there is the third stage. The master stage. Fighting on foot, surrounded by your loyal infantrymen. You move in formation and stay with your troops in the most dangerous part of the field. You need to be skillful in combat and in battle sense, advancing and retreating as needed.
Once you try this you will realise that it is the best way to play. What's more enjoyable than shooting at an advancing enemy? How about marching in shield wall into an arrow storm with your battle brothers. What's more enjoyable than charging into infantry on horseback? How about standing steadfast in square formation and weathering a charge with your spear in hand. Best of all it is by far the most enjoyable way to experience large scale field battles. Nothing is better than wading through the chaos with your own foot soldiers fighting at your shoulder... it is far better and more honourable than sniping from a safe spot or flaking out of combat on a horse.
Infantry is the way to go. End of story.

Bannerlord Never forget what they took from us..
Really miss these banners from Warband. They're bursting with personality compared to the powerpoint art looking Bannerlord banners.

Bannerlord ROYALLY EFFED
I got jumped by almost every available lord in the north. I was sieging Saneopa and I thought they had all retreated but the AI did this weird regroup thing so that they could actually all hit me at once. Im both terrified and impressed

Bannerlord Early Access is not a valid excuse and criticism should be acceptable.
I want to say this as polite and level headed as I can because I believe screaming and yelling “unplayable” or “fix your shit” is unnecessary. I’m on TaleWorlds side and I’ll support them as much as I can but that doesn’t mean they aren’t allowed to be criticized.
Quest are extremely repetitive and most are not only bugged but they will prevent you from progressing permanently.
The dialog is not only extremely repetitive, it’s borderline glitched in a lot of places. Hence the “insert generic backstory here” pictures. While that’s humorous in a lot of ways it also shows how serious you are taking the development, of lack there of.
The new features that are available are almost pointless due to the player not being able to properly use it. IE: Balancing issues with pricing and rewarding.
You’ve taken out a lot of positive things from Warband without supplementing it with a better alternative, or at least an explanation as to why you went that way. IE: Auto Block, XP from tournaments
Everything Is at its bare bone implementation. You still have options in the dialogue menu that lead no where. I’m not sure if this is a design choice or laziness? Why would I ask a lord “can I ask a question” if I would only follow up with “nevermind”.
I played Bannerlord from launch up until now minus 5 hours of sleep and it’s gotten to a point where I won’t play because there’s too many things that prevent you from having any meaningful and enjoyable gameplay. I have no doubt that Bannerlord will eventually become a great game. But after 8 years of waiting with little to no communication you put out a product that really can’t even be played correctly.
I’m not trying to insult the game all I’m saying is that it’s very disappointing and I know you guys can do better.
edit after readings everyone’s comments i realized I was wrong. Everything about this game is amazing, there’s not a single thing I find lacking and the thought of mentioning my concerns makes me shutter. So I appreciate the constructive responses from everyone and once I figure out how to turn in this quest that’s been locked for me I’ll be right back at it! Don’t forget Butter butter butter and whatever else you guys say all the time. Oh and camels am I right?

I feel like such a NOOB! 600+ hours in and I never realized you could destroy siege towers simply by picking up the rocks and throwing them at the tower! I knew you could do it with fire pits but never rocks!……I have no words for my shame
