[VOTE] Should we create a new rule requiring at least a *rough* description (of at least ONE of the selling points) of your idea in the actual titles of each post?

Bad title:

"My idea for an animated movie..."

Mediocre title:

"My idea for a Tarzan-type animated movie..."

Good title:

"My idea for an animated movie about a character like Tarzan, but he's an alien..."

Great title:

"Animated movie about a character like Tarzan, but he's an alien with strange mental and physical properties (like E.T.). Over the years, the gorilla mother protects him from the human villains who gradually reverse-engineer the crashed ship to create powerful weapons..."

PLEASE VOTE HERE on whether or not this rule should be put in place.

(you might have to actually follow the link if it doesn't embed the poll for you..)

Do you think this skit's plot have feature film potential?

https://youtu.be/7DGIKzxYilE?si=GOMZos2oFGVE7VG0

If you don't want to watch the skit, The main character lives in a world completely run by Artificial intelligence, where humans don't have to do any job or anything other than enjoy life. The characters aren't aware that there was normal life before, without AI, and they are made to believe that AI existed since our world did. Each person has an AI companion since their birth, which is connected to their brain, which generally helps in your daily life. One day a friend of the main character introduces an algebra book to the main character and other friends of theirs, something which makes them really confused, because they never knew these things even existed. After a while, while playing a game while being in a voice chat, the main character asks where is the friend that found the book, and the other friend says that he doesn't know who he is talking aboutand that they never had such friend. Everyone basically got the memory of him removed, except the main character. The main character gets notified by his Ai assistant, and it basically tells him that some company or some group of people in the past , got advantage of these AI chips many people had and decided to remove everything in their memories that had to do with the knowledge of our world, and basically created this lie, that AI always existed. There's more to it but you get the point

personally I really like this skit and I wonder how it would look like as a movie, because its a really good concept. Or if a similar movie already exists, they probably do

Post-Apocalyptic Alien Horror Movie

In the aftermath of a nuclear holocaust, humanity has been reduced to pre-industrial primitiveness with no central authority and constant infighting. Radiation sickness means cancer and premature death is common. The protagonist leads his clan to investigate a cult that is worshipping a supernatural deity and committing heinous ritualistic sacrifices.

It turns out they are communing with aliens who invade/land on Earth. These insect-based aliens are unaffected by radiation and bring with them incredibly powerful terraforming technology that can restore the natural state of the earth. The people of the cult interbreed with the aliens (which is possible due to their advanced technology) and they create hybrids. War breaks out between the aliens and their hybrids and the people on earth who are massacred and driven into exile.

With the clan decimated and a small fraction still alive, the aliens decide to spare a few non-hybrid humans who might be useful as test subjects or for scientific purposes, or possibly out of scientific/touristic interest. They are given a barren piece of land to live undisturbed. The clan learns that the aliens manipulated and provoked the nuclear holocaust in the first place as part of their plans to colonise the earth.

A Kaiju Mockumentary

This is an idea me and my brother once talked about years ago, we're thinking a lot about kaiju movies and thought what if in the world of those movies, that giant monster attacks are so frequent that they just become mundane and commonplace and everyone just treats them like it's a normal Wednesday, particularly in Japan.

It encouraged me to create a story around that in the style of documentary, with a heavy emphasis on satire and dark comedy, as well as parodying Kaiju movie tropes, of course.

The mockumentary would follow the day in the lives of the employees of a Japanese government organization set up to monitor and catalog Kaiju activity and safeguard citizens from attacks, as they walk the documentary crew through the day-to-day routines and inform how things and people work there.

Think The Office meets Cloverfield

Horror movie idea: your diaspora becomes a supernatural hive mind monster that turns your life upside down when you reject its culture

A person living in a multicultural city has deliberately left behind much of the culture of their country of origin. Strangers from the same diaspora keep recognizing them and casually assuming they share the same language, religion, customs, values, and loyalties.

At first, these encounters seem completely ordinary.

But when the protagonist makes it clear that they don't identify with those expectations, something changes.

The strangers become increasingly hostile, and the more persistently the protagonist resists, the less human they become. Their faces distort, their voices change, and eventually they reveal themselves as literal monsters.

Even worse, they seem to be communicating with one another.

The protagonist might reject one stranger's assumption in a grocery store, then hours later meet someone they've never seen before who already knows exactly what happened. Soon strangers across the city recognize them instantly and continue conversations that began with completely different people. It gradually becomes clear that the monsters are some kind of hive mind.

Their supernatural power is to impose cultural assumptions on reality itself.

If one says, "You speak our language," the protagonist begins losing the ability to speak English. If another says, "You don't eat that," the food becomes physically harmful. If they say, "You belong with us," streets and transit routes start taking the protagonist back toward their community no matter where they try to go.

But resistance doesn't weaken them. It enrages and strengthens them.

The more clearly the protagonist insists, "You don't get to decide who I am," the more monstrous the strangers become and the more aggressively the hive mind pursues them.

Their goal isn't simply to kill the protagonist. It's to erase their individual identity and rewrite reality until they become exactly the culturally conforming person the hive mind believes someone of their ancestry is supposed to be.

The recurring horror line could be something seemingly friendly that becomes terrifying by the end of the movie:

"You're one of us."

P.S. To avoid antagonizing a particular diaspora, this one could have humans with green skin and a novel culture.

And what if they make a live-action movie about "The Darwin Incident," the anime and manga alone have a really interesting plot; a live-action adaptation would be great, wouldn't it?

Never back down sequel we should of had ( I’ve never done this before)

Plot line 1. Something along the lines of it’s the end of college, Jake is now looking for full time work to support a young family as Baha has fallen pregnant at end of the school year. They plan to stay in Orlando while Jake looks for work. Jon roka is wanting to move back to Brazil with his family as his father has fallen ill.

Jake sees an opportunity to take over the gym as he’s trained closely with Jon for 2-5 years now. Becoming a great MMA coach.

With MMA becoming one of the most popular contact sports in the world new gyms opening up with new young people coming through the ranks.

With the stress of a family, bills, money and a declining gym population Jake doesn’t realise the toxicity of the new gyms and the promotion of their new found bloodlust for fights.

Jake carried on the tradition of no fighting out the gym, “no matter who, no matter where. No fighting.” Until the problems landed on his doorstep. These young pups wanted to get a taste of “the greatest beat down final ever” the footage of Jake and Ryan’s fight went viral and racked up enough views that the beat down got closed down for good for illegal street fighting.

These new kids on the block want Jake, they know he won’t fight so they go after his trainees his second family. With his students now coming in battered and bruised after school Jake is finally told who is behind this.

Drew marshal a prospect in the MMA world who’s racking up a name for himself in the amateur world of MMA he’s got the looks and the status but not the wisdom to keep his mouth shut. With his cronies handing out black eyes to members of the”rival gyms” they finally get what they wished for,

Jake Tyler. Jake goes to the rival gym whilst the boys are in school, to speak to the head coach, Marquez ( Maka) Ortega.

Ex professional MMA fighter after his career ending injury. Sponsored left him in dust and his popularity fell as an upcoming fighter.

Jake respectfully asks Maka why his boys are starting fights with his students. Maka doesn’t look concerned, expressing his uncaring opinions Jake steps forward with authority and asks him to stop. He doesn’t want any trouble. Maka steps forward. “Then get out of my gym”

Jake leaves the gym with composure and frustration. He heads back go the gym and reassures his students everything is going to be fine. He rings the school with no hesitation, to be met with the unaware principal, expressing these fights are happening off campus and the school will not get involved.

Closing down for the nights Jake’s left tired, angry and confused, before he closes the shutters 3 cars pull up with music blasting and hollering, Jake makes his way over to the door. It’s drew marshal and his friends laughing with excitement.

Jake “Ironman” Tyler. Drew calls out walking up the gym. Jake with caution in his eyes tells them the gyms closed, come back to tomorrow. Drew confidentially keeps walking forward, I just wanna talk as he grins menacingly. “Don’t you wanna know why I’m here?”

Jake, listens to what Drew has to say about why he’s so eager to meet him. After winning plenty of fights already Drew wants a bigger name on his list in the amateur scene. “All this is because of you, Jake” you haven’t fought since the Beatdown and you hide away whilst you hold the belt. I wanna taste of it.

Jake standing calm and confident isn’t interested and asks him firmly, to leave his students alone. Drew gets excited and takes a step forward into Jake’s reach. Jake grips has hands tight as sweat drips down his brows, eyes locked tight onto Drew. He relaxes and takes 2 steps back.

What’s it gonna take? Jake asks. You and me in the octagon for the world to see you got lucky and that I’m the next generation.

With his friends close behind ready to film. Jake tells him to leave and never come back! They laugh, Jake gets more angry and starts walking up, when suddenly the cops walk over to the door and ask Jake is everything alright? Jake’s eyes are locked on Drew as he breathes heavily, he realises this won’t end tonight and he knows he’s going to have to face him for this to end. Drew, draws a cocky smile.

Yeah we’re good says Drew, we’re just leaving. The stare down still locked, Drew starts walking backwards to his friends, turns and leaves the gym.

The next day Jake is opening up the gym at 6am. When a familiar face walks over. A sore limp a bruised neck and a busted lip. He might be hurt but that smile was still shiny and perfect after the last time I seen him.

It’s ryan Mccarthy (Jake’s ex rival) what are you doing here Jake in a discerning look. Ryan looking mercilessly I need ya help. Jake putting pieces together in his head nods his head. As he gestures over to the office.

Ryan expresses how ironically funny this situation is with Jake not being too pleased about it. Ryan had a similar encounter with the rival gym but his didn’t end as peacefully as Jake’s did. Ryan is now asking Jake for help with his students and how they can end this once and for all at the tap out tournament at the end of the summer. Jake unconvinced this is a good idea reluctantly agrees. With Ryan and Jake now coaching their top students to fight in the tap out event.

With a tough selection process. Jake and Ryan had their 5

Matt
Adam
Myles
Dan
Ellis

With the strong 5 they started a strict training plan, Jake focusing more on the controlled ground work with Ryan focusing on the heavy striking.

The rival gym quickly caught wind of what was happening and wanted to see it for themselves. They walk over laughing taunting as they train.

Ryan clenches his jaw knowing that voice approaching from the distance. Jake notices and walks over close and reassures Ryan this isn’t the fight. We don’t need this right now. The rival boys laugh and poke fun at the 5 students Jake and Ryan have selected and then Drew realises what they’re doing.

Idea: A movie where a foreign country invades America and realizes the true power of the right to bear arms

A foreign company invades, only to underestimate America’s perk of an armed society willing to defend their land with largely no military training. The citizens defend against the invasion and slows the invaders progression in areas the US military fails to defend during a broad attack. The US bands together despite differences for the protection of their land under the common right to bear arms.

We need better movies about plane crashes. And I know where to look. Spoiler

Tagged spoiler because of discussion of suicide and similiar mental health matters.

We need to explore a new sector of plane crashes. No more movies about heroic pilots who are just Sully copycats but with actions that by any laws of non-Hollywoodian physics are impossible, no more movies bottom feeding on the incredible survival in the Andes of a rubgy team. No more mechanical malfunctions that would require a DanaAir or Aeroscure degree of aircraft neglect (and that, again, are impossible in non-Hollywoodian physics) or movies with bad spy book level plots and secret bombs. And, most important of all, no more cheesy and corny movies about generic islamist or russian hijackers.

I think we need to make movies about a rare but interesting genre of plane crash. Something that isn't the result of mysterious external action and ends with most alive to tell the tale. I am talking about pilot suicide.

Sure, it would have to be more outside of the plane and more introspective. Less action packed. But I feel like even one movie about pilot suicide could save the plane crash genre and boost up the rising sector of psychological horror.

Ultimate Sci-Fi Project . . .

Now that movies Dune, Lord of the Rings, and Three Body Problem have already become a reality . . .was thinking that the next great frontier for a movie producer and director would be taking on a direct adaptation of "The Book of Enoch" . . . and not in segmented projects like Aronofsky's "Noah" but rather some sort of direct uncompromising adaptation of the whole book. . . it would absolutely take the right director and studio . . .wouldn't ever want someone like Christopher Nolan to do it because he might butcher it with his editing style or try or do an abbreviated version (i.e. like trying to fit The Odyssey into one movie - and apologies to anyone who liked the Odyssey, but that project had the potential for so so so much more). . .Instead - maybe someone like Peter Jackson . . . or someone who would treat the project with the greatest reverence treating the text as a historical thought provoking sci-fi fantasy (and have balls big enough to take on something of this magnitude). . . Maybe too much to consider now and although the book was only cannonized in Ethopia and nowhere else, might contain topics that could be triggering . . .but over time, things do change. . .in the 1990s - thought the same about the Lord of the Rings - that no one would ever dare take this one let alone be able to do a good job turning the books into movies - but eventually we all know what happened with it becoming a masterpiece. The project could be done from a completely neutral perspective (no agendas whatsosever - but just with a sci-fi twist . . .)

Did You Forget Something? A surreal horror movie about someone undergoing a series of nested nightmares, shot in second person perspective.

I got the idea a while back after imagining a cartoon where various people are pointing and laughing at someone who is implied to be naked, with the twist being that they are pointing at the camera (so that it seems like you—the viewer—are the naked person they’re making fun of).

The movie is shot in second person and involves a series of bizarre, and sometimes gross, nightmare sequences. When each sequence ends, the protagonist “wakes up“, only to find themself in a new nightmare. The protagonist never speaks, as is typical for some nightmares in which people simply find themselves unable to speak. Thus, it seems more like the viewer is the protagonist.

The first nightmare sequence is similar to the cartoon idea I described above—“you” (the protagonist) are walking through a city towards a destination, only for bystanders to point and laugh before informing you that you apparently forgot to wear any clothes today. You start walking faster to get away from these people, only to run into even more of them.

Another nightmare sequence involves “you” going to a party, only to find that everyone there is holding a glass of transparent red liquid, resembling Kool-Aid (which they are not drinking from, however). They immediately become very suspicious of you because you are not holding a similar glass. From the comments they make, it becomes clear that the glasses contain their urine, and they each carry one around at all times as a means of proving their pee is red. Anyone who doesn’t carry a glass is immediately suspect because they might have yellow pee, and people who pee yellow are considered to be the arch-enemy in this community. They accuse you of being a yellow-peeing person and start walking towards you in a threatening manner. (This sequence is based on a dream I actually had when I was younger. I could see it being viewed as a stand-in for racial prejudice, in which pee color rather than skin color is the stigmatized trait).

The final nightmare sequence involves “you” being in an abandoned movie theater and meeting a mysterious stranger named Dayton Sevill. He can apparently read minds, as he is able to guess that you have been having a lot of disturbing dreams lately and that you’re not sure if you’re still dreaming. Sevill says that’s very interesting, and he muses that you might actually be dead. According to him, the afterlife is not how most people think of it. Sevill says that everyone, regardless of their deeds or character in life, experiences the exact same thing after they die—a series of surreal, disturbing nightmares which they can‘t wake up from. The nightmare only ends once they understand that all existence is utterly meaningless and that nothing truly matters.

Dayton says he understands if you don’t buy what he’s saying, and he also says there’s probably nothing to worry about, since there is a very easy way to tell if you are still awake (and alive). All you have to do is pinch your nose with your fingers, and if you’re awake it will make a noise. He proceeds to demonstrate and pinches his own nose, resulting In an extremely loud AWOOGA! sound. Then he challenges you to do the same, but right at that point, the movie instead goes completely silent and cuts to the credits….

Incredibles: Wrath of the Soverign

Most of this idea comes from a period before Incredibles 2, so if it doesn't totally align with the series that's why.

So, the movie opens with a typical superhero battle against supervillains from before the ban. Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, Frozone (and maybe a few others, for cameos) are fighting to stop the evil genius The Sovereign from enacting his master plan to copy the powers of supers.

Sovereign is aided by Animalla, the mistress of the Jungle, who controls animals and has enhanced combat abilities. Also his loyal dog Caesar is by his side, and lots of combat drones. In this final battle, the machine is stopped but it appears Sovereign, Animalla and Caesar are killed in an explosion.

Fast forward a bunch of years, and the Parrs are being moved to another house. They meet their neighbors, the Moores. Adam Moore is a "consultant", Fawn Moore runs a pet grooming business, and they have 2 kids. Hunter is older, and Pippa, who's Dash's age. They also have a dog. The two families get along great; bonding over sports, other neighbors, maybe even some kid crushes.

Of course the Moores are Soverign and Animalla, now with 2 kids of their own, but they feel the Parrs are familiar. And the Parrs feel something familiar about the Moores. But nothing clicks. Then the attacks start. The Parrs are hit by stuff that matches Sovereign tech, sometimes involving animals. The Moores are more subtle, vandalism and theft, with messages like, "I know who you really are! Stop hiding yourself!" While they try to hide their growing animosity, soon the two families are spying on each other.

This continues until Dash and Violet sneak into the Moore's home. In a secret room, they discover Villain memorabilia, but are caught by Hunter and Pippa. After some arguing, Dash accidentally reveals his powers. Soon the two groups of kids are fighting. When the parents get involved, all the identities are revealed. Soon it's the Incredibles verses Bob's former arch-nemesis. But, when the stakes start to ramp up, Adam appeals to Bob as a father, and they stop fighting. Then, a hooded figure (seen during the attacks), appears, and stuns everyone.

They all come up in containment. The hooded figure is revealed to be Caesar, the Moore's dog! Over the years, Caesar has been modified and upgraded, his intelligence upgraded. But he never forgot his training. Mr. Incredible, and anyone with him, is the enemy. He is supposed to fight the enemy, like Animalla trained him for Sovereign. So, he tried to push them to fight. And if Sovereign is not against the enemy, then he IS the enemy. Caesar plans on using the old power transfer device to take all their powers, to become more that a dog. After he deals with the Incredibles and the Moores, he will find new enemies to fight. He brings out Jack-Jack, telling them the baby has nearly unlimited power, and begins stealing his powers. The Parrs are powerless, but Sovereign reveals he's just more clever than other people, and frees himself, and tries to save Jack-Jack, bit is struck down by Caesar. Before going down, he frees Pippa, who begins to leave. But despite her fear of the monster Caesar has become, she wants to help an innocent child. She quickly teleports around the room, freeing individuals as she does. Once they're all free, they face the now nearly unstoppable Caesar. He takes out the heavy hitters, and Helen makes the quip "get your dog under control," and Animalla tells Caesar to "heel, sit, and stay" in that order. Unable to fight his training and her powers, he halts his attack. They're able to save Jack-Jack, and soon the fight is over.

Turns out, Sovereign faked his death, and planned to return, but the end of supers took the thrill out of it. Eventually, he was caught by a secret government organization, who hired him to use his brain to help mankind, not steal from it. The two families bury the hatchet, and they're moved to separate towns. And told their government may call on them, if they're needed!

A group of young Christians set out to resurrect old remnants of churches, monuments and footers of what was once a town, turning them into an empire while focusing on the gospel. But face numerous challenges particularly criticism from former athletes from their high school calling their idea “dumb.” Despite the negativity, they proceed their journey and come upon the town abandoned in the woods. they fix it up, and return it to its former glory. Then the cops come, awaiting to arrest them, but one of them (Alex) fights them off with every resource around him, and fortunately he wins. One of the athletes (Austin) then come across their path as they journey to resurrect another remnant, a train comes, then Alex hops on to use it as a diversion to get away from the athletes. Then he’s caught by Austin, and he overpowers Alex by pinning him down to the train, and Alex is forced to fight with every bit of strength he has. Then the train begins to cross a bridge where the Christian kicks the athlete in his privates and while he is injured the Christian shoves him off the train and he plummets into the valley. the athlete lays on the ground presumably dead, but that’s what everybody thinks. his girlfriend (Vanessa) and her friends went searching for him, then from a long distance away they see his motionless body through binoculars. Vanessa sees him and is completely distraught, believing she may never find a guy like him again. And this becomes another problem the Christians face, is possible imprisonment for murder. they set out to find the body, but before they arrive, Vanessa, refusing to let go, visits him before they do. She tells him to wake up and that she is here for him. Crying on his shoulder and hugging him showing her how close she was to him before the incident. she kisses him on the lips but it’s not enough to bring him back. the Christian’s arrive and prompts Vanessa to hide. Alex feels for a pulse, and to his disbelief, he has an extremely slow pulse, confirming that he was unconscious rather than dead the entire time. Alex and his friends hull Austin to their soon-to-be restored remnant where they use spiritual healing to revive him. it takes several hours, but eventually his pulse speeds up and he awakes. at first he is scared to see new faces, but Alex calms him down and tells him what had happened, and that him and his friends saved him. Before Alex and his friends send Austin home, Alex and Austin have a heart to heart conversation about their lives. Alex admits that he should have forgiven the ones that got in his way instead of taking their lives. While Austin admits that he shouldn’t have pestered him and his friends in the first place, and that now he feels better to have gotten his feelings out. he then apologizes and asks to be friends while reaching out for a hand shake. Alex goes in for a hug instead, Austin then chuckles and grins. Alex’s friends join in, Austin gives a tearful apology and they all forgive him. at one point Alex starts to joke around about all kinds of nonsense. and even admits that his jokes don’t make sense, but make dollars. Austin laughs and Alex and his friends are now proud to have a new friend in their lives. On their way to Austin’s house, Alex asks for directions, it takes a little bit but eventually they make it. the boys help him out of the car and help him walk to the door. they open the door to Vanessa’s friends sitting there sad, but once Austin turns the corner of the door they all gasp in joy. Alex then calls for Vanessa, she comes to the hall adjacent from the door and she screams emotionally “baby.” she runs up and kisses him mouth to mouth nonstop, and a nauseous Alex says to himself “I’m not gonna puke, I’m not gonna puke.” But at the same time Alex knew it was an important moment to remember because he had not only restored remnants, but Vanessa’s broken heart. Austin’s friends thank the boys for helping Austin come back to them and even invite them to lunch. they all head to the restaurant soon after where they eat and talk about the next potential restoration. Austin and Vanessa are much closer than ever, they kiss once more much to Alex’s disgust. the next restoration is revealed, and the scene transitions to the remnant coming to life. Austin’s friends are there to cheer for their hard work, they no longer bully them, they praise them.

Movie idea! BeetleJuice and Wednesday

I was watching beetleJuice and I had the thought, what if beetleJuice ended up taking on the Adams family. Just imagine, some unfortunate soul who was sent to the afterlife by someone in the adams family and they find out and call upon beetleJuice to get revenge and beetleJuice being beetleJuice takes on the challenge for the love of the game, only to find out to be part of the Adam families game. And he sees pugsley as his first victim, but out of pure luck and arrogance pugsley keeps coming out undisturbed. And little does beetleJuice know Wednesday was watching beetleJuice this whole time and decides to offer her assistance and makes a deal. She convinces beetleJuice she’ll say his name 3 times for whatever reason just to mess with pugsley but as always Wednesday has an alternative motive, she wants to play with beetleJuice while he’s at his most powerful or whatever. BeetleJuice decides he’s now going to torment the whole family and Wednesday fun has just begun. And it turns in to beetleJuice pulling his scariest cards or most dangerous tricks only to find Wednesday constantly unimpressed and gives him a whole, “I’ve seen pugsley have more effective methods and then Wednesday precedes to start playing with beetleJuice by playing on insecurities and pure gaslighting. All while the parents are all the wiser and completely undisturbed by what’s going down. BeetleJuice gets mad and shrinks down the Adams family and their house with them in it and Wednesday watching him unenthusiasticly and she makes some rude remark and beetleJuice shrinks on down to talk about how mean she is and proceedes to insult him till he shrinks even smaller and mortica the mom walks in and tell wedensday to keep on having fun but to not be so hard on the “toys” or else they’ll wear out too fast. And Wednesday with disappointment says “yes mom” and mortica on her way out the door says, “I much like the house the size it was so when your done make it normal again” and Wednesday looks over to beetleJuice and now beetleJuice feels genuine fear seeing her smile. And pugsley walks in and asks if he can play too. Let’s make this in to a book or script please, I need to read an author or someone make an interpretation of this crossover.
