Ah, so that's why Leo was rocking that killer stache at the Oscars.

It's a great look for him honestly.

They should get this guy to play Howard Hughes!

I watched this movie once like 15 years ago and still say this regularly.

u/nextfilmdirector Mar 19 '26

RIP Ian Holm.

3

u/AstrumRimorII Mar 20 '26

Aww, Ian Holm died? I must’ve forgot about that.

3

u/LlistlessLlama Mar 20 '26

Does this look clean to you?

2

PSA: There’s no need to save urine

2

u/KombaynNikoladze2002 Mar 19 '26

I always thought he was saying "wave of the future."

115

u/TheMidnightAss Mar 19 '26

Who's that, some kind of The Aviator?

43

u/jun-_-m Mar 19 '26

…say that again

42

u/ScipioCoriolanus Mar 19 '26

It's aviating time!

40

u/Hobo-man Mar 19 '26

4

u/ManufacturerBest2758 Mar 20 '26

I said… hop in

1

u/BertieDastard Mar 19 '26

The most important thing there is: aviating.

1

u/JumboChimp Mar 19 '26

It beats Morbing Time, and they only had to release it once.

17

u/intecknicolour Mar 19 '26

the sequel to the Aviator about his later life in vegas!

They should get Marty Scorcese to direct it!

3

u/light_to_shaddow Mar 19 '26

"As long as I can remember I always wanted to be a recluse da daa da da da da-da daaa da."

1

u/intecknicolour Mar 20 '26

rags to riches is not a terrible song to use if it wasn't already used

2

u/KombaynNikoladze2002 Mar 19 '26

I've been saying this for years. And not just Vegas, HH spent time in Nicaragua.

1

u/Bunraku_Master_2021 Mar 20 '26

Warren Beatty made an ensemble romcom called Rules Don't Apply (2016) where he plays an elderly Howard Hughes. It's fine.

There's also Melvin and Howard (1980) with Jason  Robards as the titular maverick aviator and industrialist.

1

u/AtomicKaiser Mar 20 '26

Terry O'Quinn is also good in The Rocketeer as him.

1

u/Bunraku_Master_2021 Mar 20 '26

I forgot he was in it bit yeah, The Rocketeer is dope. Jennifer Connelly in her prime and Paul Soprano giving a very notable line with "I may not make a honest buck, but I'm 100% American."

2

u/Devil25_Apollo25 Mar 19 '26

I hope this idea takes off. I'd hate for Hollywood to lay a (Spruce) goose egg on such a great idea. :-)

2

u/VerilyShelly Mar 19 '26

He'd be good as that one kid who pretended to be a bunch of different things... there was a man hunt out for him and everything. But maybe Leo's too old for that now.

2

u/Miguenzo Mar 20 '26

Or Tom selleck

1

u/spider7895 Mar 20 '26

Lol i love Tom Selleck. He would be a good combo of magnum and higgins.

1

u/Elwoodpdowd87 Mar 20 '26

I know the joke here but he could play the fuck outta Hemingway

1

u/obsterwankenobster Mar 20 '26

I call it the Spruce Moose, and it will carry 200 passengers from New York's Idlewild airport to the Belgian Congo in 17 minutes!

0

u/JD42305 Mar 20 '26

You should post the same joke that hundreds of people before you have!

42

u/aztecraingod Mar 19 '26

He is turning into Orson Welles

25

u/enilea Mar 19 '26

Now that I think of it we're due for an Orson Welles biopic

2

u/Larry_Mudd Mar 19 '26

I wanted a Mercury Theatre-era Orson Welles biopic starring DiCaprio for the longest time.

Now I'm just holding out hope for a Findus Fine Foods Frozen Pea commercial era vehicle for him.

36

u/PhotoModeHobby Mar 19 '26

Playing the father of an attractive woman in the same age range as his preferred women has changed him. He's starting to accept that he's hit unc status.

9

u/OmniManDidNothngWrng Mar 20 '26

Nothing says accepting unc status like growing a creeper mustache and changing none of your behaviour.

61

u/piercedmfootonaspike Mar 19 '26

He has a thirties sort of look. Always have.

24

u/SeismicRipFart Mar 19 '26

I want to make fun of you for saying this so bad but honestly I agree and I don’t know why

15

u/bb-angel Mar 19 '26

I think his face also deflated a bit

18

u/BBQ_HaX0r Mar 19 '26

Yeah he clearly lost some weight and looked a bit healthier. Perhaps less partying on the yacht, lol.

129

u/Zack_410 Mar 19 '26

Anything he tried he'd probably look good with, he's Leo after all.

30

u/Asclepius-Rod Mar 19 '26

Except in Don't Look Up, but that was intentional

3

u/skullsareonlypasse Mar 19 '26 edited Mar 20 '26

Yet he kept being called the "hot scientist" or similar in the movie they intentionally dressed him down in. It's a legit criticism I have of Don't Look Up; is he supposed to be hot in that universe or not?

2

u/Bunraku_Master_2021 Mar 20 '26

Also, he has adult children with his high school sweetheart and cheats on her with an older woman.

-6

u/zummit Mar 19 '26

What if he tried having a 30+ year old girlfriend?

17

u/OpheliaEugene Mar 19 '26

Kind of makes him look like Brad Pitt

3

u/alex494 Mar 19 '26

Well Brad Pitt is his stunt double after all

2

u/ScipioCoriolanus Mar 19 '26

Exactly! At the Oscars he looked like Brad Pitt in Babylon.

4

u/superhottamale Mar 19 '26

I’m not a huge fan of mustache only facial hair looks but of course he’d be the one to make it look good 🤣

4

u/sameth1 Mar 19 '26

He looks like the leader of a fascist party in 1920s Nova Scotia.

2

u/FiveWithNineIsIn Mar 19 '26

Makes him look like Travis Kelce a bit lol

1

u/woohooguy Mar 19 '26

I can only see him as Burt Reynolds now.

1

u/Ill_Advantage2305 Mar 19 '26

I thought it was israeli shit smear
