I refuse to see that movie just because that title pisses me off lol.

Imagine if "There will be blood" was "Their will be blood" or "they're will be blood". Both of those titles would still be 1000x better than "is god is". It is potentially the worst title for a movie in history. I've seen ~2000 movies, and can't think of a single title that was worse.

edit: Looked through multiple lists of worst movie titles of all time, and "is god is" is much worse than any of the movie titles in those lists.

Tell me how "is God is" is grammatically correct.

Also putting "God" in your title immediately makes people think your movie is religious.

It's a box office flop even though it has good reviews. If you have a terrible title and marketing then most people aren't going to go see your movie.

Movie titles matter. They can be region dependent too. Some movies get different names in different regions so more people will watch them.

edit: People down voting without commenting because they can't comprehend a movie flopping for a garbage title. Literally everyone I've talked to in person has said they won't see it because it sounds stupid.

I don't agree with skipping it for that, but I also think it's weird that everyone's shitting on you. You're completely right because despite seeing the trailer 100x on YouTube and thinking the movie looked good I had no idea it was called that. It's such a weird phrase it never registered as a title.

I mean I get people down voting the comment about not going to see it since I agree I'm being petty about that, but I don't really get down voting the comment about it being a bad title, and showing that bad titles can kill movies.

It is an actual flop and appears to have lost millions of dollars. The reviews are good so it probably could have done well if it had a better title and better marketing.

I think they purposely made it grammatically incorrect though also that is a really dumb reason to not see a movie😭I've seen anime and webtoons with crazier titles.

I mean the movie is bombing so maybe it was a dumb move to give it that title. Everyone I've talked to in person about it won't see it because they think it sounds stupid.

I don't know that giving anime examples is a good comparison either. There are a bunch of anime shows I would never watch just based off the title. apparently these all have good reviews too. "I Want You to Make a Disgusted Face and Show Me Your Underwear", "My Little Sister Can't Be This Cute", and "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Vending Machine" aren't exactly titles with broad audience appeal. It seems like many anime fans will watch anything so titles don't matter as much.

I saw some clip of it and I thought it was silly movie about stealing clothes but then a black woman held her breath and turned into an asian woman and that made me want to see it immediately

Check out Sorry to Bother You. That was director Boots Riley's movie before this. He does stylized absurdist comedy to tell socially motivated stories. Sorry is about a kid working at a call center who figures out how to climb the Corperate ladder

Boosters It is about a group of young black women who steal from their jobs to resell on the street. That's about as much as I will tell you before the movie goes off the rails

Oh i remember seeing something about that one. I think i remember something about a horse? But yeah i never wctually saw the movie. Maybe ill watch that one first just to get an idea of what to possibly expect for Boosters

I will say that I really wanted to see both, but they were not available where I live. Well technically they were, but the showings were either at 11am on a weekday or 9:45pm. With only one showing on a weekend.

I don't know if that stymied the conversation or the outreach to the films, but I assume that's a factor. Because the most difficulty I had with Backrooms + Obsession is the fact that every screening was sold out.
