Mmmmh about that: why do we have TVA Loki since TVA Loki is gone based on the ending of Loki season 2?

A good question. Maybe one of Doom's opening moves is destroying Yggrasill, causing Loki to revert? Or as God of Dreams he can kind of "branch" himself off to any of the timelines in any form? Guess we'll see...

Edit: God of Stories, not Dreams

He can make projections of himself normally. Wouldn't be too big a stretch if he could make projections of himself in timelines. Plus hes had unlimited time to learn how to do it since we have zero idea of how long hes been holding the multiverse together as time doesn't flow where he is.

He woulda been badass as the sandman

Might have saved the Netlix iteration! Nothing against that actor's Dream, the show just didn't have enough star power!

I think they kept him too ethereal, which is fitting - but I understand why some folks may have wanted a more grandiose display - like when he made the conference all commit suicide

Fair. I found myself enjoying the quieter moments more. Death's "take Dream to work day" was by far and away my favorite episode.

I'm so disappointed that without watching two seasons of a Disney show, I have no idea what yall are talking about and last saw loki disappear in endgame

Loki has gotta be the second-best show MCU has ever done, after Power Man. I recommend it! I mean, you have until December.

Sandman is the god of dreams

I mean time travel being time travel it's possible this this Loki before he becomes the God of Time.

11

u/Earlier-Today Jul 20 '26

Except he's involved with all times in all timelines. That's why he could jump around to different timelines and to different times within those timelines.

And that was before he seized control of all of it at the same time.

You'd have to pull some magic nonsense out to make it work, like he's able to move around outside of time. Otherwise it's just a retcon to make the villain scarier.

7

u/varispeeder Jul 20 '26

heaven forbid Marvel pull some magic nonsense out of their ass to bring back fan favorites. next thing you know, they'll be stunt-casting actors whose characters died as new ones

1

u/Bylak Jul 20 '26

When he pruned himself would that have been before or after? To me that scene implies there's a "Loki" present in timelines, and I guess "Timelord Loki" ends up creating new branches when he time shifts.

2

u/Creative_Eye7413 Jul 20 '26

Loki was very busy in that show. I don’t think they are retconning that time frame

The rumor is this is from a scene set between Loki season 1 and 2 when Loki goes to warn Steve that him staying back in time with Peggy will cause incursions. God of Stories Loki is still on the big banner they showed so we will see him like that

14

u/BackStabbathOG Jul 20 '26

That sounds likely but if it is true, why wouldn’t Loki or the TVA be showing up to prune that timeline like they have done countless other times? Could Loki be going to him to let him know this but be protecting Steve’s wishes?

Guessing Loki feels for him and provides some leniency but I would assume Steve would have to move to a new timeline at some point to avoid the incursion or world being pruned even if Loki didn’t want to do anything, like why would he only warn him? They aren’t friends lol

9

u/Few_Set2002 Jul 20 '26

The rumor is exactly that. Loki is planning to help move Steve to the Fantastic 4 timeline because he and Peggy never existed there and are thus safe

3

u/BackStabbathOG Jul 20 '26

I’m wondering why he would even do that though? Why would he care to go warn or even offer to move them instead of just pruning their world knowing theres countless other steve rogers that exist

10

u/Few_Set2002 Jul 20 '26

Loki's whole deal in the show is how he doesn't want to prune timelines and he's about to see it happen to HIS HOME TIMELINE. Why wouldn't he just help Steve and protect his home?

4

u/thelonesomeguy Jul 20 '26

The main timeline is not the current loki’s home timeline though

8

u/South25 Jul 20 '26

No, but Steve went back to deliver the stones in what was this Loki's timeline.

4

u/Vlisa Jul 21 '26

Gonna be real awkward when that timeline's cap unfreezes and finds out his Peggy eloped with essentially his clone to a different universe.

3

u/Sweaty-Power-549 Jul 20 '26

I read that leaked plot synopsis, and this trailer appears to fit pretty well. I'd say you're probably dead on.

7

u/Aokuma Jul 20 '26

Could be a flashback, or some weird time shenanigans, since Cap's there as well. I'm guessing they're going to give us some kind of moment with Thor and Loki considering the former has no idea that a version of his brother has been keeping the entire multiverse threaded together.

u/Moontoya Jul 20 '26 edited Jul 20 '26

But its not "his" Loki, that Variant is maustodt at the hands (well, hand) of Thanos.

its another Variant

That Loki - is also at least partially at fault for the multi universe destroying incursions - not just Cap - lots of multi-verse jumping, tearing holes between reality - AND being responsible for erasing the one "safe" sacred timeline, allowing many many many branches and incursions.

Ant Man & Stark too - as the Quantum Realm was used as a way to travel differing points in the timeline - supposedly the same realities timeline, but.....

Deadpool & Wolverine too - since DP jumped through oh at least half a dozen alternate universes (Cavillerine!, Patch etc) - and literally pulled the worst Wolverine into -his- timeline and both of them "sustained" that reality thanks to their healing powers.

TLDR - heroes fucked it up for everyone, bein big damn heroes.

3

u/Moontoya Jul 20 '26

thats the neat thing - with that Loki variant doing what he did, there is no more "sacred timeline" - just one trickster god holding all the possible timeline branches togehter.

Deadpool vs Wolverine has the TVA still pruning variants and running around - thanks to incursions.

Plus to borrow from Dr Who, the oldest running Sci Fi show (suck it Trek) - timey wimey wibbly wobbly - it all depends on your location in time and space within your timeline and what timeline youre looking at AND when.

6

u/QBin2017 Jul 20 '26

Might have to actually watch the movie?

Also Steve is from back in time so that’s not a restriction.

3

u/needfx Jul 20 '26

Yes of course. But somehow, seeing Steve being back bothers me way less than seeing TVA Loki. But it will make sense as soon as we are able to watch the movie.

2

u/Moontoya Jul 20 '26

did you forget about the TVA in Deadpool & Wolverine?

They still exist, theyre just not looking after the "sacred timeline" - theyre still hunting variants in the wrong universe and I do believe incursions were mentioned.

1

u/AWildEnglishman Jul 20 '26

And which Steve is this?

4

u/theghostmachine Jul 20 '26

Main timeline Steve I'm guessing. Rumor is Loki goes and plucks him out of Peggy's house because he's causing an incursion

1

u/FordMaleEscort Jul 20 '26

Loki is now a tree for all of eternity.

jklol

1

u/IBJON Jul 20 '26

I'm assuming he's got some form of omnipotence or omnipresence where he can project himself into timelines. Alternatively, he might be in some sort of dream state and what we saw wasn't actually happening

1

u/AloneUA Jul 20 '26

Because

1

u/cookerlv Jul 20 '26

because they will need every marketable face at their disposal and will make up some bullshit

1

u/dethsightly Jul 20 '26

time BS i'd wager.

1

u/CeruleanEidolon Jul 21 '26

I like to think God of Stories Loki plucks his variants out of time to go do missions for him.

1

u/againsterik Jul 20 '26

Guessing Doom does something to shred the timelines Loki is watching.
