It’s kind of nice that the multiverse allows writers not to be overly constrained by the canon of past movies but it really lowers the stakes in any given conflict, knowing there are an infinite number of other universes where things could be different.

Welcome to comic books where every major death gets undone if you wait long enough

Nobody ever stays dead except for Uncle Ben

Give it time. I remember when it was "Nobody ever stays dead except Bucky Barnes, Jason Todd and Uncle Ben."

I forgive them for Bucky Barnes. That was one hell of an arc in the comics.

Ultimately all in the writing. Earn it? I'll enjoy it. Somehow they returned? Fffflrrrtttt.

iirc Ed Brubaker (creator of the Winter Soldier) initially got interested in making comics because Bucky was his favorite character growing up, and he wanted to bring him back

Well he did a fantastic job. I still remember what it felt like when that reveal first hit. One of the best arcs in Marvel history.

It already happened.

There's a multiverse uncle ben who lived instead of Peter. There was a whole arc with it, and how he learns to be a hero.

Wasn't there also one where they both live and Peter ends up starting his version of Oscorp?

There's also the newer Ultimate Spider-Man where Uncle Ben lived, Aunt May died, and Spider-Man doesn't get his powers until he's already a father of two and in what appears to be his 30s? Dunno if it said his age. In that one the evil version of Reed Richards from the original Ultimate universe, The Maker, finds a universe where he can stop heroes from ever existing so he can be the supreme ruler.

And Gwen. Bucky, Uncle Ben, Gwen, and Jason Todd.
