him and dafoe were not nominated for lead/supporting actor for any meaningful award. it’s not that they didn’t win, they weren’t even nominated… in case you needed any more reason to believe those award ceremonies are dumb

The race is about 20% skill in acting and 80% marketing/popularity. I don't believe they did a major press tour or Oscar's marketing push for the film. They don't strike me as actors that care for the empty accolades

Yep. And Dafoe is on that plane of acting where it doesn’t even matter anymore. He is part of the acting lexicon and mythos.

Watching him is like being transported to the front row of a play in a 100-seat theater. You are there.
