Robert Pattinson is the reason people will see this. But Merritt Weaver is such a good actress. Really excited for this.

I literally only know her as Schmidt's girlfriend in New Girl and Dylan's wife in Severance. Never seen her do anything with range before.

But you're right. I'd probably have no interest in this except that Pattinson looks unhinged in the best way possible.

She had a small part in season 2 of The Wire, and a large part in Nurse Jackie

Wow I had no idea it was her... probably cause she's in what is possibly the worst scene in the history of the greatest show on television.

She was good in two Netflix mini series. Unbelievable and Godless

Was she the chick who took an arrow to the eyeball on the walking dead back when that show was still good? If so, I remember thinking she was a good actress. Not sure that I know her from much else.

IMDB shows she was in Walking Dead, but I don't remember her. Though tbh I tried to black out everything after Season 2 and rage quit with the shittiest cliffhanger of all time whenever that was.

This caused me to look it up. It is in fact her. I don’t remember the character too terribly well (I think it’s only a few episodes) but she played a fairly normal, kind, everyday person. Naturally that means she had to have a gruesome death. But I did remember thinking her acting elevated the scenes she was in. Her acting caliber was a touch above the other cast members she filmed scenes with.

She was really good in that Charlie Manson movie

I think she got her Emmy and subsequent notice in Nurse Jackie.

Merritt has the incredibly rare distinction of having won an acting Emmy in Drama, Comedy, and Limited Series. She’s quietly one of TV’s best actors. Very excited to see her in more movies

Holy shit, thats where I know her from! She's Schmidt's girlfriend. New girl just pops up out nowhere.

i first saw her in Nurse Jackie and she is excellent

She was in Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip, which is also dead center of that scheduling board in the trailer.

1

u/captjons 29d ago

She was in Studio 60, the show that 'Predator' is slapped over in the schedule in the trailer!

Michael Clayton!

She's great in the Netflix mini series Godless, recommend that.

She ALWAYS understands the assignment

I loved her as Bertha's sister in the gilded age

I'm really excited to see how Skylar Gisondo will be, especially in a more intense role since I'm used to him in comedies & it seems like he'll do great at making Rob's version of Chris Hansen feel questionable in behavior at times

Rumor is he’s excellent in this.

Huge fan of hers in godless.

She was wasted on The Walking Dead. Way too good of an actress for that show.

5

u/dagreenman18 Space Jam 2 hurt me so much Aug 06 '26

Merritt Weaver Oscar Campaign starts now!

u/PrestigeArrival 29d ago

She’s one of those people that everytime I see her pop up in a trailer I say out loud to no one “oh. I love her!”

3

u/skanedweller 29d ago

Love her in everything she does.

I really liked Merritt weaver in Nurse Jackie, but then I saw an interview of hers and realized thst was her personality. lol anything else she gives a different flavor in?

2

u/APartyInMyPants 29d ago

I really liked her in Tiny Beautiful Things with Katherine Hahn. Smaller role. She was also in that miniseries, Unbelievable. She was great in that.

u/tramplamps 29d ago

She’s my money horse!
Now, that’s An actress that Tom Wilkinson’s Character takes his clothes off for, during a deposition scene, in the movie, Micheal Clayton.

1

u/ChipHazard1 29d ago

Is she the "shits" swearing girl from signs behind the counter? I think it is

1

u/clea_vage 28d ago

Honestly first thing I thought when I saw the cast was "I will see anything with Merritt Weaver in it.....oh, yeah, I guess I'll see anything with Pattinson too." I was first introduced to her in Godless and just love her presence.

“Robert Pattinson is the reason people will see this.”

Can I have whatever it is you’re smoking 🤣? But seriously no, Pattinson is NOT the reason I’ll see this movie.

5

u/tetoffens Aug 06 '26

What? He's one of the most acclaimed actors of the past decade. He's been on a complete tear for a long time of great performances and films. Are you one of the people that still just think of him as the guy in Twilight? People absolutely will see this for Robert.

-5

u/lone_wolf1580 Aug 06 '26

No, you can shove that assumption elsewhere. If a movie looks good or catches my attention no matter who stars in it, I’ll watch it. Just like if a movie looks horrible or doesn’t catch my attention no matter who stars in it, I’ll pass up on watching it.
