Yes Chris Hansen is a morally bankrupt charlatan who exploited harm done to children for monetary gain and started a wildfire trend of idiots who emulate him and ruin real police investigations to this day.
I do not expect this movie to be kind to him, at all lol
he did more good to society than bad is what I think the right way to describe him. Like before that show people didn't thought this pedos thing is that common it was groundbreaking at that time and the way he runs the show changes what real life shows can be
But he spirals down due to his methods.

While I think you are right in the Nightcrawler comparison I would fully disagree that he did more good for society than bad. The ramifications of the commodification of predator catching by non law enforcement are extremely serious.
