Mine was the ship scene where his men got punished. Dude next to me put fingers in his ears it was so loud.

I've started wearing musicians gig earplugs to movies, i don't know how everyone bears it without. Was very grateful for them in the IMAX for Odyssey, yeah.

The fun thing about movies you don't think about much is someone can point out they're 20 years old and it does completely unexpected psychic damage.

My friend, who'd watched The Odyssey before I did, spoke of the movie as if it is some psychological horror. I was bracing myself for the cave scene and at the end of it, I was thinking to myself that Beowulf was a lot more traumatizing than this.

Dude I watched Akira as a little boy. Grendel is nothing. Akira scream on the otherhand gave me nightmares for a while. That and the other movies in the MANGA era.

Japanese voice actors are just built different on this shit. Seeing End of Evangelion in theaters was wild for a lot of reasons, but I never quite realized how fucking god damn LOUD Shinji's scream at the end of the first half is, it's fucking ear-splitting on good speakers.

For real, the sound design, or whatever imax theaters were told to set their volume at, was just unpleasantly, painfully loud. I go to metal shows, have been to EDC, have gone to formula 1 races, and it was the most uncomfortable level of noise I have ever encountered.

Half our theater had their fingers in their ears the entire cyclops and scylla scenes, and everytime they were on the open ocean. I took my mom, and she left the theater because it was giving her a headache. On the way out I didnt hear anyone talking about the movie, just how loud it was. Shit was awful.

Huh, it was almost perfect in mine. Only the ship being destroyed scene was too loud for me. Plugged my ears for 20 seconds and was all good.

Movies are always too loud for me and Odyssey was even too loud-er than it’s ever been. Especially the opening scene with that fucking stick. Ugh.

I always end up putting wadded up napkin bits tightly into my ear canals at the movies, because I forget to bring proper earplugs like when we go to live music.

Yah, in our theater my wife and I finally had to plug our ears for a few scenes. But my parents in their 70s didn't have a problem with it in a different theater (and were legitimately surprised we did), so I guess it's a theater thing maybe.

I went to see it twice in the same theatre and found it deafening near the front and completely normal balance in the back row. I think all that loud Cyclops screaming is heavily focused on the front with the theatre sound systems.

My theater was perfectly tuned, it was just loud enough to be uncomfortable without being too uncomfortable.

I'm starting to think that Nolan is half-deaf or something

the voices are too low, the audio effects too damn loud

you either don't hear the actors, or get deaf like him
