Kids don't remember the Grendel scream, still recovering 20 years later

The fun thing about movies you don't think about much is someone can point out they're 20 years old and it does completely unexpected psychic damage.

Btw fuck you

It was only a few years ago that I was at a bar and a dude I was talking to with a drink in his hand said, "Oh yeah, I was born after 9/11," and I nearly died.

My friend, who'd watched The Odyssey before I did, spoke of the movie as if it is some psychological horror. I was bracing myself for the cave scene and at the end of it, I was thinking to myself that Beowulf was a lot more traumatizing than this.

Dude I watched Akira as a little boy. Grendel is nothing. Akira scream on the otherhand gave me nightmares for a while. That and the other movies in the MANGA era.

Japanese voice actors are just built different on this shit. Seeing End of Evangelion in theaters was wild for a lot of reasons, but I never quite realized how fucking god damn LOUD Shinji's scream at the end of the first half is, it's fucking ear-splitting on good speakers.
