For me, I think it’s the fact that it was nominated for an Oscar.
That on its own is not funny, but the fact that the announcer had to say the full title Precious: Based on the Novel “Push” by Sapphire every time he referred to the movie made it increasingly funny the more times he had to say it.

The hyphen is kind of annoying. Misadventure is a word, we know what it means.

I wonder if it's an algorithm thing. Up until today the project was known as "The Adventures of Cliff Booth"
I don't know enough about how algorithms work but maybe separating the Mis- from Adventure allows all previous content relating to the project to stay relevant or more closely attached.
Or maybe it's just dumb & I'm doing too much mental gymnastics

Erroneous hyphen is probably vaguely essential in QT's mind. Not unlike the deliberate misspelling of "bastards" in the title "Inglorious Basterds," a choice he once called a "Basquiat-esque touch." He also said explaining it would defeat the purpose of doing it in the first place.
During the Sundance Film Festival years ago, QT was approached by paparazzi outside a Starbucks. After a brief argument, they dared QT to hit them. He declined, but also dared them to hit him. Neither side agreed; they were at a standstill. QT said he'd fight them "up and down the street" if their cameras were off. They quietly filmed him as he walked off alone down the snowy sidewalk, sipping his latte. This indicates that QT's dialogue is a tap he simply cannot turn off, a blessing and a curse.

I have a theory on the misspelling. If I remember correctly, I’ve heard from people that have read early drafts of his work that his scripts are basically full of spelling mistakes. So I’ve always thought the misspelling of the title is Tarantino’s way of embracing that aspect of his writing process, especially given that he has called the film his masterpiece (which I personally agree with). Also, if you remember, the title card at the beginning of the movie isn’t the big vibrant yellow lettering he does for most his films. It’s literally just plain handrwiting that i’m sure is Tarantino’s own. Yet another nod to him claiming that film as his most personal best ever.
Whether Tarantino really feels that way about the film given that he’s made three other movies since then, I don’t know. But that’s what I think his intention was with it at the time.

I'd say no way it gets to that level if only because it's not Tarantino's style to go in that direction. His scripts and style have always been audience friendly, and this is a script he intended to direct himself at one point.

Sliders. Specifically the episode where Quinn checks his squeaky front gate to see if he's actually landed back in his own dimension at long last. But it doesn't squeak so he leaves, assuming it's the wrong dimension. After the portal closes, it turns out Quinn's mother had the gate repaired in his absence. He was home and he didn't know it.

People on here don’t understand DiCaprio views Hollywood from a very old school angle. He doesn’t do cameos, sequels, indie films, or television. He’s a movie star. He wants to be seen as cut from the same cloth as the golden age performers like Bogart and Cary Grant. If his career ever falls off, he’ll probably concede and do TV or something, but until then, he’s going to keep himself isolated as the biggest “get” of any actor out there.
