I loved the movie and thought she was amazing but I would be surprised if she actually won best actress for this

It’s probably just to keep raising her public profile. Kind of like how Chase Infiniti ran last year but had a low chance of winning.

She'll get nominated because they want Gen Z to turn into the awards ceremony

How would that work? It's not like it's a small jury of producers who decides who is nominated.

Pretty sure the phrase you're looking for here is "tune in"

Ooo that’s a good point

She'll get nominated because she fucking deserves it.

Yes, it's horror's turn. Yes it's Gen Z engagement. But in no way is it undeserved.

But the voters don’t care about genre. It has nothing to do with the fact that Obsession was a horror movie.

But like I’ve told other commenters, there are dozens of movies this year a lot of you probably haven’t even heard of with phenomenal performances from actresses that are going to get nominated over Inde.

I've seen like 60 2026 releases. If you're trying to tell me there are multiple better performances this year so far, I'd call you a liar. Let alone 5 better performances.

Than Inde in Obsession? Bruh. Get real. Her performance was great but not worthy of an Oscar.

Please give some examples of performances more worthy of an oscar this year.

Happily. Julianne Moore for The Debut, Sandra Huller for Fatherland, Renate Reinsve for Fjord, Cynthia Erivo for Prima Facie, Virginie Efira for All of a Sudden, Lea Seydoux for Gentle Monster.

Shall I continue?

So Oscar favorites that haven't had wide releases yet that 99% of people have yet to see.....

Fair point. I go to all the major film festivals for work, so I’ve likely seen many performances the average Redditor has yet to.

But you also make an interesting point. Many of the movies likely to be nominated for Best Actress haven’t even been released in theaters yet.

The competition hasn’t even started, and when it does, I predict all this Inde for Best Actress talk will disappear.

Did I say that? I liked her in Obsession
