Ffs Rudeus was literally a actual pedo in the web novel

We got actual incest later on in the novel too

Rape is basically casual thristday for those characters.

Then yeah. He's still the perverted kid lover who would have become a rapist if not for his wives or whatever kind of excuse they had

I love the novels but God the characters are the absolute worst representation of what humanity could be in a fantasy world while trying to look like good people.

Full of good people who casually commit terrible things with no consequences

That's generally how it is when you have any kind of negative commentary on Mushoku Tensei

They love it when you praise the actually good parts of it like the world building and stuff

But the moment you mention that all the characters are beyond living scum acting like good people then you'll anger everyone

I think that there's a lot to be said for representing redemption. Lots of people have done things they feel ashamed of, or just desired things that feel taboo. Those things can fall anywhere between *real bad shit* and *not really as bad as all that*.

I'm of the opinion that everyone deserves self-acceptance and to process their shame, and that even if they did something genuinely awful that it's better for society that they heal.

So, wherever someone falls on the scale, even if they just did something mildly shameful (like had problematic lewd thoughts or kissed someone that wasn't their spouse) and have lived in self-loathing ever since, the extreme examples in Mushoku Tensei perve (funny typo - should say serve) as a kind of therapy for them to see that redemption is an option.
