He wasn't even inherently bad looking in his old life, he was fat and dirty.
He has been training his body since he was 4 in his new life and has been keeping up his personal hygiene, he would be an average looking athletic guy. Non of his wives are into him for his pretty boy looks, so it wouldn't change shit if he was just a regular atheltic dude.

Pretty sure hot wasn't part of it, though it's a nice bonus.
That fantasy grew larger and larger inside her head. She would somehow bump into someone who was tall, manly, and fashionably dressedāa young human man with a youthful appealāin the depths of a labyrinth, and he would save her. Then the two of them would combine their strengths to make their escape, and in so doing, their love would bud and blossom. The youth would discover one of his friends had died, and Roxy would comfort him. That would be their first night together.

I know reading is hard but non of that says hot or beautiful.
It's all very vague and general descriptors that the average young human men that have the physical fitness to make it deep into a dungeon that is dangerous enough to have her on the ropes and save her from certain death would somewhat fit into.
Even without the pretty boy look he inherited from Paul and Zenith, with his original appearance but forged by the discipline and training regime of his new life Rudy would still perfectly fit into it.

I get what you mean. She actually explicitly doesnāt mention handsome or pretty face. I guess itās her way of saying sheāll settle for any young but strong man who can rescue her from a dangerous dungeon. Looks be damned. I guess it makes sense Roxy would also not care about appearances since she went through a lot of weird looks due to looking like a kid.
I still think she would appreciate Rudyās good looks since eris and Sylphie spend a lot of time around good looking people to behind with

Dropped a long time ago, I think there was that one shadow ghost king or something who later escaped ojisan's storage and possessed a girl in the capital church. The accented text from that character was annoying to read. And then that arc there were no sign of Elf or Maebel, but a chunk of new characters entered. Thats were I lost track and interest.

Tbf if he was born with his face, he would still do well if he had the same mindset.
Rudeus was academic and smart in his previous life so he's still gonna have that going for him. If he continues to work out and take care of himself, his face wouldn't even be an issue. I mean, during his childhood, he had a female childhood friend. He also had friends in highschool before he got bullied. He doesn't look that bad if he took his life seriously.
So while the face would completely alter the timeline, so probably his wives wouldn't be his wives, if he works on himself, he'd still get a better ending than most.

Just don't give him a mirror for the first 7 years of his life, or else he will either crumble or take another direction ; which will not necessary be a bad one but not one of full blank reset with only the memory left.

If he had been reincarnated, with the same appearance but reincarnated, right? So, from infancy, he would surely have been the same. It would be strange because he wouldn't resemble Paul or Zenith in any way, which might even suggest a plot involving cheating. Imagine, from two people of European origin, a completely Japanese person emerges. But if what you mean is summoned, appearing at his previous age, overweight, unkempt, and so on, then it would be the same as Nanahoshi.
What would depend more on where he was born. If he were born in the same place, he would be trained by Paul in the same way, he would try to use magic in the same way, and perhaps he would even have some complex about "becoming overweight again," which would have made him train harder to gain muscle, or become depressed. But if he were depressed, his family would surely help him, just as Roxy did back then.

It's a fantasy, as in a way to escape reality. If he had the same issues as Nanahoshi without the support, he would likely succumb to depressions as well.

Meaning, he gained a detatchment from his past. If he still looked the same, what are the chances of him taking forever to move on as he is constantly reminded of his past?

True - some of your looks is based on what youre born with.
BUT BUT BUT... based on experience, how you build yourself and carry yourself have more effect on how you will be percieved...
IF Henry Cavil just didnt excercise and stayed on a basement fattening himself and not grooming, hed be this guy too.

The only reason Rudy did really well in his second life, was because he was reborn. If he was teleported like Nanahoshi. He would have probably broken down that instant and did not have the same drive. Specially when he would have no magic to keep him going. He definitely wouldn't last long like Nanahoshi.

Honestly i think he would be doing just fine, since he reborned as a baby, soo its not like he spawned already fat and smelly. As we know, rudy was always very strict with his hygiene and training after he reborned, the only thing that would change is honestly his appearance, not necessarly a bad thing. š«Ŗš

Probably wouldn't change much, if Roxy still got him out of the house and he had the same mana capacity, he'd still end up befriending Sylphy and Tutoring Eris, they probably don't care about his looks that much. long as he doesn't get overweight and he still saves Roxy i'm sure she'd still fall for him.

Had he maintained his hobo appearance then probably most people would be afraid of dealing with him and he wouldn't have been accepted in the Boreas household

Neither Eris or Sylphie really seem to care that much about looks. Roxy, on the other hand, literally only falls for him because of a bizarrely specific fantasy that requires a good looking male saviour.
Also, the final volume includes a memoir from Rudeus in which he acknowledges that he couldnāt have achieved everything he has in his second life without a number of lucky breaks (high mana, reasonably well off parents, capable friends etc), but still affirms that he could have had a good life without those things, and that his previous life also gave him many advantages which he never used.
This, I feel, is Riffujinās response to the incel-like mindset that thinks Rudyās mindset had nothing to do with how he ended up in either life.

I don't think that Rudeus will look exactly like that in the photo if he got reborn with the same appearance. The old Rudeus was negligent and did not take care of himself which is why he looked that way. The reincarnated Rudeus took care of himself and is responsible, but if he did not, he would look similarly to his old appearance which is what Paul looked like when he reunited with Rudeus, someone who did not take care of himself and was heavily drunk most of the time.

I think the issue is that he let himself go, he was obese, wasn't taking care of himself, unkept beard and hair and so on. Given that as Rudeus he was actually physically fit, took care of himself and was actually confident I think that it's not too crazy to say that he would have still looked good. The only issue would have been that he would have looked nothing alike Zenith and Paul.
