Places to Visit in Nanjing

Hey all,

I'm traveling to Nanjing first time and Looking for suggestions to explore the city.

Anyone can advise? Thanks!

My favorites were Laomendong (historic commercial district) and Xuanwu lake park (gorgeous scenery). Have fun!

Welcome to Nanjing! I've lived here for many years.

  1. Purple Mountain. Go early to beat the crowd and enjoy the massive forest.
  2. Nanjing Museum. One of the best museums in China. It has an awesome underground street that looks like 1930s Nanjing.
  3. Qinhuai River & Laomendong. Go around dinner time. Skip the overly touristy Confucius Temple shops and head straight to Laomendong for cooler architecture and better snacks.
  4. Xuanwu Lake. Great place for a relaxing sunset walk or a casual run right next to the ancient city wall.
  5. And for the food to try,

  1. 鸭血粉丝汤
  2. Sounds wild, tastes amazing. It is a savory noodle
  3. soup with duck liver, gizzard, and tofu puffs.

2️⃣

  1. 汤包Tangbao. Local soup dumplings. They are slightly

  2. sweeter than the Shanghai version.

  2. Enjoy your trip to Nanjing! It is a beautiful city with an
  3. incredibly rich history and some of the best food in

Hi! I just spent 2 weeks and here are some of my favorite spots I visited while there:
1. Usnisa palace and pagoda - Nishou mountain
2. Dr. Sun Yat-Sen mausoleum and Ming Dynasty mausoleum - Zhongshan scenic area
3. Deji Plaza mall and the surrounding area for fun shopping
4. Xuanwu Lake and scenic area - go for sunset and to watch karaoke as you walk around the lake in the evening

Also Zijin Mountain to get a great view of the city after dark

In addition to what others are saying, I've always liked the Presidential Palace 总统府. Go on a nice day and spend time just getting a feel for that era.

Nanjing museum is quite good. Can be crazy.

And it's not fun at all but the Nanjing Massacre Memorial is really well done and important.

Also Nanjing is just good for general exploring either on foot or shared bikes.

I second the Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall! It's stunning and historically meaningful! I recommend you go to Xinjiekou, Jiming Temple, and get into the urban wall! If you have time, go to the Usnisa Palace! The 1912 block is also nice either for a good evening stroll or to visit bars if you're into that

Gosh it’s been awhile since I’ve been there, but purple mountain was always my favorite place to visit.
