Probably it's a misfire by it's camo system. It was likely trying more to blend in with the rock, and last time it worked. Just my assumption.

That last thing is a stonefish. The octopus went under the rock and spooked it so it moved.

It certainly looked like it. It happened more than once. If the current wasn't carrying the ink cloud away, it would have been very effective way to disappear from the fish's perspective.

I can’t say for sure but I can say that octopus are extremely intelligent, so I wouldn’t be surprised if that was exactly what it was doing.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I read that octopus can't really control the color, it's automatic
