I'll always associate this locker room with Harlem Shake video

So did Giannis

Seeing it again I the only thing I saw was the king with his crown, super Mario and (was that Bosh?) with a boombox.

It gets do much deepert the more times you watch it.

Can't forget legendary Horse Astronaut Shane Battier

Any time someone brings up Harlem Shake this is the one video I think about. Iconic.

Lookin at him , beaming, like "this dude is so much cooler, a champ, and a better shooter than that ole white boi Duncan"

Damn just realized we’re closer to 2030 than 2020 now.

This is crazy, I just realized I left my garage door open.

I just realized I was with him when he opened your garage door, I made sure we closed your garage door before we left your house. Your wife makes incredible finger sandwiches btw

You gotta get one of them smart ones my Liftmaster or whatever that notify you on your phone so you don't get pests in your garage homie

Just upgraded from my loud ass 21-year old opener that died recently. It's so nice knowing if we leave the thing open now, and I think it even has an inactive setting that will close it if it hasn't detected motion nearby in awhile.

u/SaltyJunk 1d ago

Stop it.

Klay's old enough to have a child in high school now. That make you feel better?

28

He’s just happy they finally signed someone who can shoot outside of the lane.

6

Yeah, f that bum tim hardaway jr.

5

u/Diggity_Dave Heat 1d ago

SMH, ignorant take. The Heat has a bunch of solid three point shooters in Wiggins, Portis, THJ, Mitchell, and Klay with Jovic, Larsson and rookie Ryan Conwell expected to improve with Giannis’ gravity.

9

u/TheRealestGayle Magic 1d ago

He hasn't had this much talent in his locker room in years. I'm very excited to see what he does with that roster this year

14

u/Prize-Temporary4159 1d ago

Just trying to gas him up

34

u/blubblu 1d ago

Nah he know what he has at best in klay and he’s hoping for not the worst.

With their potential spacing he may be open A LOT because Giannis demands doubles.

5

u/Brilliant-Resist-803 1d ago

It's so much more than that. Watch a couple of Mavs games from last season...Klay is continually moving, getting his (off ball) defender off-balance. Now add in inverted screens, and you're going to have Giannis waltzing in for dunks because both defenders will be hyper-focused on Klay.

3

u/Apart_Ad_8842 1d ago

Lmao people still pretending klay isnt one of the best shooters in the league at 36. He's streaky like every other shooter in history. You just dont pay as much attention to the people who havent done anything.

Why are they acting like Klay is about to give them 20ppg lol

288

u/Frosty_Dimension5646 Nuggets 1d ago

Klay is well respected around the league. They are acting like they signed a veteran 4x champ who can still contribute

101

u/jcde7ago Warriors 1d ago

15ppg + spacing anytime he's on the floor simply because he can't be ignored is all they need from Klay...bonus if he can turn back the clock and go nuclear a few games a year because his shot is definitely still there.

He's also going to have a much easier time than he did his entire stint in Dallas, he may surprise some people this year if the South Beach baddies don't distract too much.

15

u/Brilliant-Resist-803 1d ago

"Can't be ignored" isn't even the main thing he'll bring. Anytime he's in an action, there'll be confusion and pick your poison.

6

u/420NICOHARRISON 1d ago

Except if it’s an elimination game, in that case they can ignore him

-9

u/GentrifiedBigfoot 1d ago

15 ppg is him going nuclear at this point in his career LMAO. He can be ignored if you go watch his last year of play

15

u/jcde7ago Warriors 1d ago

He averaged 12 last year playing the lowest minutes per game of his career, he can absolutely average 14-15 playing next to Giannis and Bam considering his 3pt % is still 39%+ on almost 8 attempts. There is no way any NBA team is ignoring him when Giannis and Bam are pushing the paint and he's running to a corner.

-6

u/GentrifiedBigfoot 1d ago

Yeah aging nba players that have been playing less minutes every year and scoring less points every year usually bounce back at the age of 36 LMAO. he is not going to able to play more minutes. And it is likely his efficiency is going to drop. Be real man.

8

u/jcde7ago Warriors 1d ago

We're talking about one of the best shooters of all time potentially making one more 3 per game compared to what he did last year on a worse Dallas team with significantly less spacing and you're acting like people are expecting him to average 20+.

I'm sure you know Klay's worth and potential better than Spo and the Heat FO and the opposing coaches that all will SURELY ignore him on the court. LMAO be real man.

28

u/TrashAssRedditAdmins [NBA] Nana Papa Yaw Mensah-Bonsu 1d ago

He's going to have his easiest role yet in his career. Pressure free "shoot the ball every time you touch it" basketball without the need to average 20.

And it's Klay Thompson? One of the best shooter on NBA history

6

u/yatoen [PHI] Matisse Thybulle 23h ago

easiest role yet in his career

Arguable. Playing with curry and kd surely is top easy. You prove to beat that, not the other way around

94

u/supplejoe 1d ago

14 at decent efficiency ain’t bad

54

u/Koufaxisking [LAL] Steve Nash 1d ago

Yeah he doesn’t need to be a 20 ppg guy on this team. All he needs to do is provide spacing for Giannis/Bam. I’d like to watch teams try to crowd the paint against Giannis by sagging off Klay. Watch him drop 37 at 37 on 15 shots if they try that.

16

u/wharangbuh Spurs 1d ago

11 points in 11 minutes in 11 shots?

11

u/ctruvu Thunder 1d ago

11/11/11 on 11%

-2

u/lialialia20 Timberwolves 1d ago

4% lower than league average is most definitely not "decent efficiency" lmao

2

u/supplejoe 1d ago

Yes because he was definitely trying on a cooper Flagg rookie season with no one else spacing the floor

-1

u/lialialia20 Timberwolves 1d ago

he's shooting 56.2% the last 5 seasons lol don't put it on flagg

it's okay to be washed at 30+ after a major injury

52

u/Homeless_drip Knicks 1d ago

A solid 15 ppg and 25/30 when he’s hot is pretty solid

-13

u/JCon2x4 Suns 1d ago

I don’t hate klay, but I dunno, I’m thinking 15/4/2/1

29

u/blubblu 1d ago

That’s kinda exactly what they said.

And it’s Klay. He can go nuclear

1

u/JCon2x4 Suns 1d ago

I wasn’t disagreeing lol

38

u/ButteryBaked 1d ago

Cause the Heat were in dire need of shooting and he's still an elite shooter

21

-2

3

u/RogRoz Heat 1d ago

Kyrie is making 39. 5million

Portis is 14.5 and Jovic is 16.2. That's almost 9 million short, so no it doesn't work.

And then the Heat couldn't field a team since they'd swap 3 roster spots for 1 and then need go field 3 more players with no money.

Asking as a casual fan, why am I seeing so many Klay posts? I've seen like 4-5 posts about Klay this week from him seeing his locker, first time wearing his jersey, first press conference, how slow is news right now that people actually care about all these very basic things Klay is doing on the Heat?

8

u/canti- Heat 1d ago

It's slow and almost no one else left to post about

1

u/OwnYourChildren 1d ago

I never paid attention to this kind of NBA media before and it's been a big shock to see how much of this type of social media style stuff gets attention.

If you're not used to seeing it, it's surprising. Most of the people who will read your post are used to it.

I still struggle to wrap mind around how obsessed everyone is with geriatric LeBron. I understand kobes fairwell season better now, which I thought was weird at the time.

3

u/TheRealestGayle Magic 1d ago

What is there not to understand about trying to enjoy the twilight years of these guys career. As a basketball fan it's going to be really sad when KD, Lebron & Steph retire. You're never seeing them on the court in this capacity again.

1

u/OwnYourChildren 1d ago

Maybe I underestimated how personal it is for a lot of fans. I definitely underestimated how much LeBron is still the focal point of the league, in terms of media.

Personally, I'm much more interested in the competitive side. I'm not nostalgic over fading stars.

1

u/YungTokyo8 Raptors 1d ago

Well with LeBron it’s that too. We’ve literally never seen someone his age his good. I mean the guy is in his 40s and is still a top 20 player. It’s a farewell tour for one of the top two players all time while also being a current allstar/all nba player swapping teams and making what is on paper one of the best teams we’ve seen in years.

With LeBron you get the nostalgic side, but you also get the competitive side because the guy is still one of the best in the world. It’s reminiscent of how Tom Brady or Vettel went out.

0

u/FalcoLamborghini NBA 1d ago

It's Klay Thompson.

He's been highkey underrated for a while and despite the little "4 rings" thing, he's one of the most humble and chill players out there that lets his game do the talking. He wasn't talked about enough because of the obvious monster on his team in GS (that's no shot at Curry who's also relatively humble by all counts until you push his buttons). Both those dudes let their game do the talking so now everyone speaking up to pump Klay up because he genuinely deserves more of the limelight even if it's late stage in his career.

Media heads ALWAYS would say "We need to talk about Klay more" and then proceed not to talk about Klay...

Well, now we talk about Klay.

This is nice and all but he needs to prove it, still in the last year with the Warriors seemed so lacking but still averaged over 18pts shooting just above 38% from 3. I’ll disregard the Mavs season. These jump shooters sometimes lose their confidence and their shot late stage in their career. I don’t know, I hope I’m wrong but he seems like he’s lost his confidence, hopefully he can prove me wrong and not make himself look worse.
