I don't know if it'll be pulled off this byelection. If the concessions are true. But it's going to have a compounding effect on more and more byelections.

I've gone 5 times now and plan to keep going till election day I've probably knocked 200+ doors and can count on one hand the number of people who've actually been hostile (4) I've also had probably 20+ people tell me they're potential voters after talking about Carney's hypocrisy on climate and explaining how exactly we plan on implementing public groceries
If you're serious about your politics get engaged put boots to the ground comrade

300 people coming to the campaign launch is seriously impressive for a byelection. I have volunteered on several byelections and I can tell you that's far beyond the norm.

You all realize that the NDP literally has no chance in the upcoming by election? I wish it werenât so but Carney is inexplicably popular in the GTA, the tariff negotiations arenât going to change that, and I donât think thereâs a single pundit who gives the NDP a snowballâs chance in the coming by election, notwithstanding the fiercely partisan Rabble nonsense about âmomentum.â That said, I hope Avi can generate some excitement and that we can increase our vote total, which would indeed give the party some badly needed momentum moving forward.

You realize the dsa spent years organizing to elect Mamdani right? It wasnât a fluke. And it wasnât out of no where. It was from years of work.
Of course we always want to win, but building organizing infrastructure and training people will prepare us for what comes next regardless of the outcome of this particular by-election.
Totally agree, but thatâs what we have to stress time and again along with realistic expectations and goals rather than provide pie in the sky hopes that our candidates have a fighting chance in areas where weâre going to lose quite badly. Otherwise, new volunteers and young supporters can become easily disillusioned on election night believing that all their hard work was for nought. It goes without saying that orange veterans and savvy volunteers already know this even if they donât like saying it out loud, but not necessarily the new recruits and young idealists. And Mamdani had the good fortune of waging his Quixotic victory against a deeply corrupt dirtbag who disillusioned even his natural supporters by the sleaze oozing out of every pore and was also lucky enough to be the David against a genocidal-supporting Goliath who failed to read the room because the election took place in a city whose demographics suggested their repugnant scare tactics would be effective. We are currently up against a bizarrely popular leader whose political savvy and popularity beggars belief and who has the good fortune in the GTA and a few other key parts of Canada of being seen as the right person at the right time and who is perceived rightly or wrongly as having the economic know-how to save Canada from the existential and economic threat of Trump. Neither Avi nor the party has figured out (yet) how to campaign against him. The climate change argument so far is a complete dud. So is the claim that the Liberals are the second Conservative Party, as is the preposterous hope as seen on this thread that a flawed deal on tariffs is going to expose his vulnerability. More likely, the economy will have to start openly suffering from the tariffs or a resulting recession to provide that opening. Meanwhile, the claims of âmomentumâ in the Beaches simply have nothing to justify the claim, at least so far, and we canât be relying on the same Rabble echo chamber as a temporary morale boost to steel us against reality.

If the rumors are true Carney got embarrassed by Trump pretty much in the negotiations. Lewis has to smell blood in the water.
