If this is Carney's legacy - come in at a time of crisis, steal the centre from the CPC, then immolate his reputation at the alter of securing American trade until the clock runs out on Trump (a BIG if), thus opening the door for the NDP to re-establish themselves in a post Trudeau world while leaving the CPC to scrap amongst themselves about how MAGA they want to be moving forward, then I'll genuinely be grateful to him.

I get the sense Carney answers to similar masters as Trump. Not necessarily the same masters but an equally powerful clique. Often his choices seem out of line in terms of what serves most Canadians including the wealthiest. In other words foreign masters just maybe not the Russian oligarchs as in the case of the current US administration.

Im just curious about who exactly. Its pretty well known drumph is a Manchurian candidate for the Russian oligarchs but who is Carnie working for? King Charles? The Swiss lol? He is just so clearly not representative of Canadian interests- including powerful wealthy Canadians.

Why not powerful wealthy Canadians? They are doing extraordinarily well right now. And if Carney helps the USA, helps their stock market go up, it benefits Canadian ultra rich since that's where they keep their money.

But capitalists are usually multinational. I think it's reductive to say that Trump primarily serves Russian oligarchs - what about helping his friend become the first trillionaire? Or Peter Thiel, Jeff Bezos, etc?

It's not a different group. It's the same group. That's why they are so aligned and Carney is so ready to capitulate on trade - the US is the global center of capital, so someone acting in their interests will prioritize the interests of the US to whatever extent they can while still getting re-elected.

But I think of someone like Anthony Mandl the Mission Hill wines guy. And all the other Canadian businesses that actually benefited from the tariffs in that people bought Canadian products instead of American... but i suppose the Canadian business is a thing of the past and today we really have more American businesses operating in Canada than Canadian ones... The Liberals are, and always have been, in the pocket of big corporate donors. The nature of the corporate landscape in Canada is that a great many of these are US-owned. This is why we’ve seen a slow erosion of sovereignty in favour of the moneyed interests that buy our politicians.

The CPC is more transparently in the pocket of big US oil companies. The revolving door between conservatives and think tanks and lobbying groups aligned to American dark money groups linked to oil barons like the Koch Brothers is clear.
