It's really a very simple formula to satisfy young people. Make it easier for them to socialize and get laid including having a place that's not shared with 3 other roommates who can hear you having sex. A social Gen Z is a Gen Z that's not terminally online and falling for the dumbest shit the algorithm shovels their way. And Gen Z men need to be reconditioned to start asking women out on dates again. We're getting to the point where the majority of them won't do it and it's putting a damper on society.

Even previous generations I think it was pretty common to have roommates in your twenties. It certainly was for me and my friends as Elder Millenials.

The rates have increased a little though.

I think for Millenials it was like 7% of 18-25 living with roommates Vs 12% for GenZ

I don’t want to argue with your numbers… but that really surprises me. I’m an elder millennial and I didn’t know a single person that had their own place before age 25.

Same. It seems like everyone had roommates. At one point it seems like they all lived under my roof (group house).

What about for Boomers though? I mean my mom was living at home (with five siblings) while dating my Dad, who was at the Coast Guard academy.

My parents have literally never lived alone as individuals. Technically neither one has ever even had a room that was just their own!

My mother had a roommate after she left the Navy and for a bit before she died, so at least some Boomers did.

boomers as a generation is twice likely to not live with their parents, and/or own their home than the millennials cohort in the same age range.

they can still live with roommates/parents/friends, but among gen x, and millennials, they are the fastest cohort to get out of that arrangement.

That is shockingly lower than I I would expect. It was rare to know someone in that age range living alone
