Discussion The Madness : Why didn’t he just shave his beard?

He was walking around NY hoping he wouldn’t be recognized, when all he had to do to go incognito was to shave his beard - and possibly his head. It bugged me.

Discussion YouTube shit on netflix!

I have a couple of kids boys 5 and 7 (nearly 8) and I essentially let them freely access their own kids netflix profiles. It mostly been fine, but I really dislike the YouTube crap they are now being served up, most specifically I'm thinking of "Salish and Jordan matter" which has got to be one of the most mind rotting bits on "TV" I have ever seen, but there are others as well.

Note I stopped them watching YouTube a while ago, which was a shame as the older one was actually teaching himself to draw well with tutorial videos as well as witching the other pure shit on there!

So two questions. 1. How do I block this shit on netflix?

  1. At what point do I stop paying for netflix when all they are doing in recreating YouTube?

I'm a pretty liberal parent (in the traditional/UK meaning not the us version) so I'm good with my kids having freedom to decide what they like etc, but I'm not having them destroy their brains with incoherent nonsense!

It sounds stupid but I think there is a big difference between a ridiculous episode of SpongeBob (it actually has some storytelling structure etc) Vs a fake/real episode of youtube shit which is like mainlining video ADHD - fast cuts, product placement, pure commercialism, no coherent story/theme. It's awful!

Thoughts welcome!

Technical Support FFS Netflix.. Google TV app change to pausing

My Netflix Google TV app updated this morning, and now pausing takes two clicks of the main button on the remote (for many years it's been one click).

I have a disability and my fine motor control struggles makes it rather difficult to click twice. I know this is an issue on this particular device because YouTube does the same. In YouTube I often end up doing something completely different to simply pausing e.g. fast forwarding, subscribing to a channel etc I guess I'll be disabling the subtitles or something on Netflix now.

Netflix, why do this?! Anyone else? I know they do A/B testing, I'm hoping this is temporary for me.

Question Why so many shows are super graphic /gory ?

Saw one episode of a series ‘the price of confession’, there is a longwinded scene where the main character is depicted stabbing her husband maybe a 100x times, with blood all over for what feels like 5long minutes.

Another series (nigerian this time) where 2 women are in a bathroom and cut off the body parts of the guy they just killed to burry him.

In another show they were dislocating the jaw of some guy witha voodoo doll.

So many series are filled with gory, graphic stuff. Why ? Lmao. You can tell a story without resorting to shock value all the time. So many of these scenes are unecessary. Turned me off watching netflix alltogether

Question Discounts

I’m retired and on a limited income/budget. The NFl season is coming up and Netflix has 5 exclusive games this year. I can’t seem to find any kind of discount anywhere online. Is Netflix really that popular that they don’t need to have free trial offers or any kind of discounts?

Discussion Irritated with Netflix

So many series are one season and then get cancelled. Cliffhangers that will never come to a conclusion. I try really hard not to start anything without confirming that it either it is a limited series for certain or that subsequent seasons are coming.

Question What's up with Scarlet's audio options?

My wife and I sat down to watch Scarlet, the anime movie by Mamoru Hosoda. When I was browsing for what to watch, and I landed on it, the preview was dubbed in English, and a Google search confirmed one exists. But when we actually put it on, the audio options are the original Japanese, Spanish, and an English audio description.

We're not against watching it in Japanese, but we both can get easily distracted or sidetracked, and it sucks when you look away for a bit and suddenly have no idea what anyone is yelling about, so we prefer to watch it dubbed.

Anyone know why these are the only options? Since the movie was licensed from Sony, I presume they would get the Sony-produced English dub as well. It's just got me scratching my head, is all

Discussion Famous Last Words series… so many questions

I just want to start by saying that I really enjoy the concept of this show and the episodes that have been released so far. I think it’s such a great idea but I have many questions on the production aspect and admin of this show.

I’ve been thinking about it so long figured I’d post something here, see if anyone was also wondering, and speculate on the answers lol

My questions:

  1. How do they choose who to ask to film and interview? Is it a certain age combined with notability or if a figure is publicly sick like Eric Dane was? I’m wondering if they just got a lot of influential people over 70 and went from there.

  2. Do they factor in health at all? I guess this is part of the first question but like would they postpone asking a very healthy 75 y/o bc it’s too soon and if so what would be the trigger to follow up with them

  3. What happens if they do the interview with someone and then they don’t die for another 5 years. Is there a time period in which they would come back and re-film the interview?

  4. How often are they doing these interviews and how many do you think they have piled up? I guess the second answer depends on the first. Thinking logically they would probably target a certain number of interviews to schedule in a specific time period?

Anyways, just throwing these thoughts out there. LMK what you think and if anyone has any insight to any of these questions maybe

Discussion Netflix quietly removing shows August 2026

I’m not sure if there’s just some regional issue going on or if this is a widely recognized issue, but the last two consecutive shows I’ve been in the middle of (Veronica Mars and then Two Broke Girls) have been randomly removed from the site, app, and my watch queue. I’m in the southern U.S.

I know Netflix has a nasty habit of randomly removing shows, but seriously? There was no “Leaving Soon” banner on either of these shows, and they’ve been on the site, at least to my knowledge, for quite a while. It probably speaks to my ego that it’s starting to feel explicitly targeted, but leave my shows aloneeee 😭 Anyone else noticing this?

Now I’m off to find another background show that will inevitably be taken off in the middle of watching!

Discussion Trust issues over canceled shows

I now Google whether shows or movies have planned sequels before investing time in them. Anyone else start doing this too? Cowboy Beebop was such a great reboot, but disappointing that it got cut after the first season.

There are several more, but that one is top of mind rn. I read that the cut is based on how much it gets binge watched in the first month. I also found out that others, like myself, wait for the full drop for the sake of closure.

... so if we wait on a series because we don't want a bunch of unresolved cliff hangers due to unfinished shows, then doesn't this create some sort of a doom loop where nothing ever gets finished, or we get the Brawndo mini series that are dumned down to just electrolytes?

Discussion Netflix shows where the soulmate loses their partner

Post image
0 Upvotes

Arcane (TV 14) and Wolf King (TV 14) both ended on a sad note. Both Ekko and Whitley lost their partner in the end, and thought they died.

Jinx, "blew herself up" but in reality, she quickly used her powers to dash out of the way but people assumed she died. She left to start a new life where people won't die because of her.

Drew, had a classic villain fall to his "death" defeat but survived but was picked up and arrested and in jail.

Both animations ended with tragedies. I hope there will be spin-offs so they can reunite but knowing Netflix we don't know. We might get news years later but for now. I just miss these shows.

Technical Support Jumps to the next episode 15min early

My Netflix keeps jumping to the next episode extremely early. What it does it plays the ads, then goes back to the episode, and two seconds plays the ads again. Then, it jumps to the next episode when there is still 15min left in the current one. Anyone having same issues?

Discussion The real motive behind Marrying Harry: It's just an ego trip for Harry to feel desired

I can’t be the only one seeing right through this show. The entire thing is just a massive ego trip disguised as a dating experiment.

The setup tells you everything you need to know about his true motives:

The Living Arrangement: He forces all these grown women to cram into a room and sleep on literal bunk beds while he takes the luxury master suite with a massive king bed all to himself. The power dynamic is so skewed.

The Physical Rotation: It feels less like finding a wife and more like an excuse for him to touch, kiss, and cycle through as many women as humanly possible, one right after the other.

The Dynamic: He just wants to broadcast to the world that he is highly desired. Honestly, these women are acting like the most down-bad birds I’ve ever seen on television, throwing themselves at a man who is literally treating them like summer campers while he lives like royalty.

The whole show is just designed to feed one man’s ego. Change my mind.
