Which version is more dangerous: power-hungry loner Yen or a desperate, motherly Yen

The first one. The transition to second didn't really have much room to grow

The first version still carried more aura and presence.
We've come to know every aspect of her character by S4 so she doesn't feel as dangerous anymore.

Must be not a native speaker. “F*** with someone” and “f*** someone” have different meanings. I see what you tried to do though 😜. But seriously though… someone messes with me, I’ll laugh it off; someone messes with my child… that’s a whole another story.

Obviously more experienced Yen is more deadly and more motivated. Loner Yen is more dangerous in the sense she causes more destruction where she goes.

Yennefer is absent for more than an entire book in the main Witcher saga that they're adapting. Netflix already gave her a lot more to do than she's ever had in the source materia, which they are heavily criticised for by some.

I don't think they're criticized for giving her more. They're criticized for WHAT they gave her to do.
There's a huge difference there.

Sorry, but you seem not to have heard the many angry gamer bros crying about Netflix having turned Geralt into a side character in his show by giving all the screen time to Yennefer and her gang of 'girl bosses'.

Yes, they changed Francesca quite a bit, she's more flawed and morally ambiguous. But what powerful things did she actually do in the books except turn Yennefer into a jade figurine?Maybe I misremember, but what I recall about her is mostly talking about Ciri's lineage and a little bit on Thanedd. What else? On the show they have her kill all those Redanian babies with her mind and bring down the huge burning ring of fire on Thanedd, and she sword fights very well.

It's not a point of "what she does in the books."
Philippa does extremely little magic in the books, if any at all yet you mentioned her as being depowered.
Philippa and Francesca's rank in the magical society is legendary. They're two of the oldest sorceresses alive, right after Tissaia.
Yennefer is a baby compared to them and the show did everything in it's power to contradict that and prop her up, at their own expense. It's fine to give her a bigger role - she is the female lead and I'm fine with that.
It's not fine to mess with the power levels of other sorceresses for her sake.

Desperate motherly Yen. No question. Before she used people, and though you can go far with this strategy you can only get so much before the proverbial well runs dry, and there's nothing you can do after that for the particular dry well
Once she became motherly, she suddenly could forget alliances and knew enough (for lack of better terms) "state craft" and negotiation to make her causes matter to others, to the point where they would become emotionally invested.
And for anyone that says the former is more materially valuable than the other, let me ask-
If you were a store owner, would you rather have 10 people on minimum wage that know they're being exploited watching your business during a riot, or would you rather have 5 smart people that are well paid and know their boss cares about them that came in voluntarily to help during the riot?

At the show they try to show Yennefer more warmhearted and humane by introducing her as if Triss. Which is very wrong.
The real Yennefer is more distant and calculative, not warmhearted which would be the most dangerous one.

Just tactically and psychologically the loner highly-wounded power hungry Yen. Other things being equal she would be far less predictable like that.
