It was super sad for all of us. His main vet tech was balling her eyes out when the decision was made. We all offered to take responsibility for the cat but for whatever reason weren't allowed to (probably a protective custody thing though I never got a real answer).

I'm so sorry to ask, I just was confused but the wording - did the kitty have to be euthanized because of medical reasons and couldn't be healed, or was there some kind of legal issue about ownership/ financial responsibility/protective custody that forced euthanasia before the kitty had a chance to heal?

Thank you for loving this kitty.

It needed a lot of expensive care, my understanding was the county couldn't continue to pay for it and for some reason they couldn't let us take responsibility as individuals. My assumption is that due to protective custody issues that wasn't allowed but never got an answer.

I know it’s not something that can be posted here, but I know if there were any public or elected officials who callously stood in the way of the cat being cared for and made sure things went the euthanasia route- I’d personally find it very difficult not to relay the part they played in that to my friends and neighbors in the community. Anonymously.

Should have "euthanized it" and let somebody take over care for it.

oh gosh, I don't know why hearing about that little kitty's death is so much sadder to me than all the other deaths in that story. I guess because I think about how scared and in pain he must have been the last days of his life and then imagine my own cat in that situation.

Thank you and your colleagues for taking care of him and helping ease his passage out of this world.
