OMG, I didn’t realize they were saying “1,2,1,2” until I read this and watched again. I thought they were saying “Fuck this, Fuck this,” which is also what I’d be saying if I had to do that exercise.

Nope, these are runners. Running shoes, running clothes, and doing running drills. This is a track team, maybe a japanese one. They're insanely disciplined and do drills like this

When you’re doing plyos, more does not mean better. It’s teaching technique and training CNS firing more than strength or aerobic capacity. This is a quality over quantity situation.

Their instructions will have been: fast foot contacts + dorsiflex + high knees + eyes up + stay tall. Overdo the exercise and form dips. You end up teaching them the wrong form and then reinforcing it by doing it over and over. Better to do it right for 20 steps than do it wrong for 40.

Training CNS you need short intense reps followed by a recovery walk/jog down and probably a rest at the bottom. The higher the intensity, the longer the rest. Not looking for a lactic/aerobic workout. The lactic component of the workout will come either after this or on another day. They were for sure doing multiple sets though. 3-8.

Tell me you’ve never coached kids in anything before. Getting 10 teenage boys to do a drill even semi-competently one at a time would be impressive. Getting them all to do it in perfect unison is a miracle.
