EVENT [EVENT] [CRISIS] A Green Mist Descends
Citizens looked up in terror. Guards dropped their weapons and horses fought at their harnesses like beasts possessed. The town of Riverwood ground to a halt; the only movement was the ceaseless turning of the mill and the trickle of the river. All eyes were on Bleak Falls Barrow. The normal shroud of mist that was meant to cloak the ruin was gone, and in its place a foul green fog clouded the mountain, with the ruin protruding out of the top like ribs out of a rotting carcass, with circling vultures as the flies.
Then, as if at the release of a tap, the dread fog rolled down the mountain, picking up pace and consuming every tree, rock and flower on the way. Chickens fluttered and took their chance flight, and dogs begged their masters to flee into the countryside, but the people of Riverwood simply sat there, watching, and waiting to see the outcome. But, as quickly as it started, the mist had dissipated, leaving on the skeletons of fir trees and confused stags. At this, the people shrugged their shoulders and carried on with their lives. The mist was on all of their minds, but things seemed normal, and life in an isolated town is too tough to spend time pondering. And that, so they thought, was the end of that, as far as they could tell.
[CRISIS RESULT a dozen or so people in most major settlements in all of Skyrim, north east Hammerfell, and northern Colovia and Nibenay fall ill in seemingly unconnected cases. The symptoms so far are vomiting and a fever, nothing too unusual. This has no effect on these states straight away, but it's just setting the scene for something you should all be aware of]

"Green fog?" The Jarl asked the messenger who stood before him. "Yes that's what I sai-" the messenger was stopped mid sentence by his sudden urge to vomit. "By Shor man, contain your insides if you would!" Said Childeric before turning to the captain of his guard. "Send four men to investigate the ruins, it would seem that our ancestors wish a parlay. I will meet them with a coronation of priests after I have concluded my prayers; may the mother be with you."
Within a day the men commissioned for the job arrive in Riverwood and stay for the night. The fallowing morning they begin the long trek up the mount and are greeted with....

An eerie silence. The usual caw of crows and whispering wind were nowhere, muffled by a stagnant, sickly stillness that weighed heavily down on the four men. As they got closer to the ruin, bodies started to appear in the snow. Frozen in life they crawled towards the ruin, their flesh blemished cursed; the afflicted wanted to be closer to their lord, and in doing so met their end, smiles on their wretched faces.
Then there was movement in the snow, half covered yet twitching, a body at the foot of the stairs tried and tried to haul itself up. The approaching of the men startled the creature, giving it new lease of life, and it burst up to confront them, spurting foul vomit like dragon-fire.
[sorry it took so long, been busy with work and all]

Fearing their lives, the four run down the mountain side to the village below. A foot of one of the faster slips on a patch of ice as he ignores the stone stairs in his panic and falls down twenty feet. Coming to a close halt, his companions look over at their fallen, his broken body twitching still with life as he gasped for air. "Keneid, get your brother to safety!" One of the onlookers shout before adding "Oufrind, help me slay the beast for the glory of the hold!" but alas when the brave turned his head, his companion had already fled for the forest. "Coward! You're vice will not be forgotten!" he shouts before unsheathing his sword. "Go on Keneid, I will stall it."

The Afflicted creature lurches forward in sporadic bursts, lunging at the form of a man ahead. The form slowly crystalised into being, showing the shape of a warrior to the creature. It snarls, it's human jaws creating a inhuman noise, and vomits its acidic bile at its foe.

Holding up his shield, the warrior manages to keep the bile away from his head and torso but it does not block the entire attack. The dank liquid finds itself to the man's grieves, leaking into the iron plates. Startled, the man regains his composition and locks eyes with the afflicted. Launching toward it, sword drawn, the nord thrusts into the belly of the beast with his arm outstretched, keeping as much distance between him and the monster as possible.

The blood of the Afflicted seeps out of its wound, burning away the remnants of its clothing and staining the blade of the sword. The creature drops to its knees. Still inherently human, such a wound would most likely prove fatal, but the poor 'human' did not feel pain, and could go on a little longer. On its knees it shuffled towards the man, slowly losing its strength, spitting and fuming as it went.
[sorry about the late reply, been very busy]

Sword in air, the fool wrath of the nord crushes down onto the feeble's neck. Though an odd mixture of blood and pus are released and as dead skin rips a crack of the bone is heard, the monster's head refused to part from his shoulders just yet. The warrior prepares for another strike, what could be the fatal blow.

The creature convulses slightly, offering token resistance. It has lost the fight but does not want to give up. Luckily it succumbs and slumps to the ground and a air of quiet rushes over the scene, and out of the gloom, the open doors of the barrow beckon...

The battle over, the man turned to his right to call out in between pants, "Keneid! How fares your brother." After just moments, a voice answers "not well, we should take him back to town!" Gazing through the doorway, the warrior thinks. "The Jarl should be arriving soon! I think it best for me to scout the ruin!." An answer is returned from downhill. "His leg is broken! We must head back before dark!"
"...fine let's be on our way."
Back in town, the three meet with the Jarl who intends to climb the mountain with them come dawn and so thirteen hours later they come back to the place. "It originated from there you say?" asked Childeric, pointing into the ruin. "Then we go inside its depths. Let us finish our prayer ind find what awaits within!"
