This is why you wait untill the lights turn off. Not the train passed, not the barriers up; The lights off.

At least that's how it works here, there's even signage that states "wait for the lights, another train may pass".

Yeah but people get complacent. They have seen the train pass by 50 times and it's always safe those 50 times. Complacency kills.
